All the countries in the temporary halt were identified by the Obama administration as having the highest concentration of terrorists. So, Trump is going by what the Obama administration discovered. He just chose to act on it.

Do we sound serious?

As I've stated many times to everyone else, why wasn't there an outcry when Obama banned Iraq, and Carter banned Iran? Why is it that it's okay they did it, but not Trump?

No one can answer that question. They come up with excuses to defend Obama and Carter.

If you were this woman confronting Pelosi, would you have a different view?

Don't ever say it can't or won't happen to you. It can, and it DOES happen. Sanctuary cities do NOT allow police to question the people there. It's not like they are going door-to-door, but if they see someone doing something suspicious within a sanctuary city, they cannot question them. How is that keeping us safe? And Pelosi's response that they are safe is full of crap. You don't KNOW that.

Then the US should build a wall around all its borders and not let anyone in or out. Let's ban people from 7 countries just in case they might be terrorists, despite no evidence in the past of people from these countries committing terrorist acts inside the US.

Syrian refugees are already among the most heavily vetted people on earth. People make it sound like without this ban they would just be running across borders into the US. It is a very difficult process for refugees to make it into the US anyways, before this ban. This ban adds absolutely nothing else. I respect people's right to have differing political opinions, but you won't convince me this has made the the US any safer.

What is being done about the tens of thousands of deaths in the US every year due to gun violence? What about all the domestic terrorism being committed by American citizens, some/many of whom were born and raised in the US?

Deaths in the US due to terrorist acts by people from the 7 banned countries in the past ~40 years: 0.

Gun deaths in the US in the past ~40 years, around 1.5 million.

Domestic terrorism, I can't find an exact number, but I'm going to hazard a guess and put it at above 0.

So where exactly is the problem?
Listen, I respect everyone's right to differing political opinions. I enjoy discussing it. I apologize if I have been rude about anything.

Donald Trump just has me extremely depressed about the direction of the world. He's appointing extreme right wing people to his cabinet. Steve Bannon is one of his top advisors for goodness sakes. His supreme court appointment has extremely harsh views on abortion, gay marriage and believes strongly in "religious freedom" IE discriminating against someone and citing your religion as the reason.

I don't get the right wing/religious fascination with telling woman what to do with their bodies and telling other people who it is/is not acceptable to marry/love etc. I just don't get it. How do these issues affect anyone else?

Trump's campaign was full of misogyny, bigotry, discrimination and xenophobia. Yet he won the election. He has already followed through on a lot of his campaign promises, there is no reason to expect him to slow down. He is firing people who disagree with him, the only thing he ever talks about is how the media mistreats him, he and his staff lie near constantly. He's a disgrace.

Hilary Clinton was far from a good option, but at least she isn't a wannabe autocrat. I have voted conservative in my lifetime more than a few times (though admittedly Canadian conservatives are probably more liberal than Democrats) and I have supported and been fans of republican politicians in the past.

Trump is no repbulican and no politician though. He's a tyrant. And a moron which makes him even more worrisome.

Well over 50% of the United States is in agreement with what he has done so far compared to 30%. So, he must be doing something right or we're all racist, misogynistic, tyrants. ;)

Well I wouldn't say that. Those there are some things he's done and some people he has appointed that if you agree with it, I won't call anyone what you said, I'll just say we differ politically about as two people can.
