A telling statistic...Lions were 5 of 9 on 3rd down conversions. Not the percentage but the fact the Colts defense only got them to 3rd down 9 times. |

I gotta say though, the line DID give Luck a hell of a lot of time for the most part. Didnt see ANY pressure up the gut like what has been burned into my mind. Luck is back, boys. |

The offensive improvement during the course of the game was encouraging, but I expect we'll be right back to square one to start games from here out. |

Some of worse defense ever. Colts could of kicked short, at the 5, we kicked from midfield. No pass rush, wide open WR Yes we were down 6 of our top 10 DB Makes me sick Gave up 50 yards in 3 plays Pathetic Thank goodness for Luck He looked great Offense line got better on pass blocking Couple of good runs in 4th quarter But run game still bad Edited by cedjss, Sep 11 2016, 08:07 PM.

Yup. I won't commend the Colts offense until they stop spending the first 20 minutes of games trying to "establish the run". Gore looked great today...after the passing offense opened up the running lanes for him. |

Once they let Luck rip it down the field, things changed. The Lions were literally sitting on every single screen and short route to start the game. And as usual the line couldnt do anything for Gore, but I think the short routes had some to do with it. They didnt fear anything going over the top, initially. |

There were a lot of defensive players who didn't show up today but two in particular that I thought were bad were Parry and DQ Jackson. I've been very critical of Jackson in the past but I really think he is a weak cog in our defense. He can't get off blocks and takes some really bad angles on running plays. Parry was getting moved out of the middle too easily. I don't expect him to make a lot of plays but I thought he was being pushed out of the middle too easily. McGill and Mathis were also non-factors today and that hurt. |

The defense has been ravaged by injuries, I can give them a little break on that. In a month or so when we get some or all of these guys back, then it is time to really judge them. The Colts may be 0-4 by that time though. |

Defense is worse than last year. Offense looked better once it got started but, as per the usual script, it took a quarter and a half to realize the offensive game plan needed to be changed. I used to think it was all due to Pep but I may have to revise that conclusion if this continues. |

Just something to consider, we're now 1-4 in opening games under Pagano. The one win was a nailbiter against a bad Oakland team with Terrelle Pryor as QB. |

I was impressed with the offensive line from the middle of the 2nd on, however we have to stop starting so slow and forcing the team to dig out of a hole every game. The defense was deplorable, which I expected with all of the DB injuries we had going into the game. Now that unit is even more depleted suffering more injuries during the game, only 5 healthy bodies at the games conclusion. DQ Jackson had his worst game as a Colt, looked lost out there, IMO. Hopefully we can start getting healthy in the defensive backfield very soon, until then our D will be exploited continually. Not sure how much getting players back is going to help, but it can't get worse than what we saw on the field at the end of the game today. |

Sio Moore got equally destroyed. He had a couple of nice hits, but he got caught looking the wrong way more than once. |

How many times did it appear we had a play stopped for a loss or no gain only to have the runner make a cut and get a decent gain because we lost containment. Poor discipline is a direct reflection of coaching, IMO. |

The colts have always struggled against quick running backs. The Lions only seem to roster those types of running backs. Its just like how darren sproles seems to destroy us every time we play against him. |

Our injuries in the secondary certainly were an issue, and why we had that many guys injured to start a season is fair to ask. That said, our biggest problem has been and continues to be our inability to generate a pass rush. Another area where Grigson has failed badly. |

I just heard that Irsay has signed an agreement with the Charmin Toilet Tissue company and their new slogan is going to be "our toilet tissue is as soft as the Colts defense". |

I have to say, I really feel like having vontae or anyone else of substance could have made the difference. We just needed one FG instead of TD or just a stop to make a difference. Vontaes knack for lighting up running backs in the flats might have changed the whole game. The Lions were abusing us out there. We are clearly not as bad as we looked, but we aint much better though. |

I think we are also losing what was once a pretty good home field advantage. Too many home losses the last couple years. |

Walden looked pretty good. He is 31 and probably at his peak so what we saw yesterday is the most we're likely to get. |

Right now, Mathis resembles Richard Dent when we picked him up at the end of his career. He's basically a limited pass rushing specialist. But the guy's got heart. |
