This is a pretty big get for the XFL. Luck had a very high-paying, cush job in the same city as his son, and left all that for the XFL in Connecticut.

I saw that and my first thought was Andrew moving to the XFL when his contract expires to help his dad out giving the league a marquee player and help attract others but I don't know anything about the XFL. Will it even be in direct competition with NFL or is it planned to play in the off season or be more of a Triple A type league?

The first XFL played in the spring. I don't know off the top, but I believe this incarnation is also in the spring. As for the talent, Vince McMahon is not in this to be the AAA farm system to the NFL, I can guarantee you that.
Looked it up: XFL starts in the spring of 2020.
