I thought our O-line played well for a first start. I expected lots of penalties and missed blocks but was surprised for a first game together. Lots of work tgo do before the season starts.

So Hilton and Brazill both chose numbers in the teens.
This is common in pre season for the Colts though because we have 2 #s in the 80s that are retired and hold a lot of TEs on our roster since we use a 2 TE set.

They will prob end up with 80 #s once some guys get cut.
Both wore single digits in college.

I may get shot for saying this, but that's life. Hughes has actually looked good in first half. If, and a BIG IF, he continues looking good in preseason, do we consider trading Dfree for much needed help and $$ relief?
Well since we wouldn't be running out and spending any money we would save by trading him, it really shouldn't factor into anything.

Add in that we're probably set to pick up a 3rd rounder in 2014 for letting him go, and it'd have to be a pretty swell trade.
I'm thinking of a starting CB maybe. Or big time OL.

Ok then maybe they picked single digits on purpose then, I just know that over the years we see a TON of rookie receivers wearing #s in the teens because 82 and 89 are off limits.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the OL on that drive for the 3rd TD was a mix of 2nd team & starting OLers. Luck is still running for his life too damn much, so we're in serious trouble on the OL. He'll be under pressure most of the year - not sure we can afford that, but what's the alternative? Will definitely keep OL near the top of draft needs next April.

I imagine 88 is kind of unofficially off limits too.

Good point. I can't imagine any rookie receiver feels like taking on that comparison.

All I know is the names I saw on the jerseys weren't the starters, but there could have been some starters still in there.

Of course, the names of the STARTERS aren't very familiar to me either.

Why is Ballard not in still?
because its pre season. Typcially the 2nd half of the first pre season game is played by scrubs who won't make the final roster.

Luck throws a beautiful pass.
Defense looks lot better then I thought.
Hughes two sacks, polian was a genuis.
Ballard looks good, so does hilton

So are we running a 3-4 or a 5-2? Seems like we've had a lot of guys at the LOS in this game. I just hope we don't negate Freeney or Mathis' strengths with this new scheme.

This isn't the first time Hughes has looked good in preseason.

Lets be positive though. I've also heard a lot of players talking him up now. He was another undersized speed guy trying to transition to our D before. He might be in a system that utilizes his strengths now.
That was a ton of time for their QB there, but good double coverage on the receiver. Are we actually going to see corners stride for stride with receivers now?

Yeah, I just hate seeing people get too high or low over preseason play as it can often not translate to regular season.

Who has been the biggest surprise (player)?
#50 Freeman had a few good plays. Moala also played fairly well.

Oh Marshall Faulk, for a guy that played for us for years, why do you eliminate the "L" when you say "Cotes"?

Do you pronounce your own name as "Marsha Fauk"?
