Well, work is over and my weekend officially begins. Hope I'm not stepping on any toes by opening the first game thread in the new era. But here goes nothing! Although bear hunting season begins in Ontario, Canada in about a week from now, "Bear hunting" season officially begins Sunday afternoon! GO COLTS!!!

Another big wideout we didn't draft.
Ya i was actually wanting Alshon.

Hell of a player here at USC. Caught EVERYTHING. From a guy like stephen freaking garcia no less.

I certainly forgot the Bears were a super bowl contender. OH there is the best corner the Colts have had in 20 years getting beat deep.
Ya that was all on our corner not being able to lock down a receiver for a 30 minute picnic with Cutler.
I was the one that mentioned that we wouldn't be able to tell if the corners are good anyway because our front 7 sucks so bad.

Wow, this hybrid looks so much better than the bend but don't break Tampa 2.

Not trying to get down on the new D, I'll think it will be good in a couple of years. Some people seem to think the change will be better. Some times it is, some times it isn't. The last 2 years under Caldwell were horrible. Under Dungy, the Tampa 2 was good enough to win, and win a lot.

In a couple of years we may have a dominating D, who knows.

Yeah, and imagine how good Alshon would've been in his collegiate career if he had a solid QB throwing to him !

The cover2 wasnt good enough to win. It was shitty enough to get carried by offense except for the one miracle run in the playoffs which got our SB.

If the cover2 was good enough to win, we wouldnt have gone 0-13 to start last year. lol

This game needs to just end. Its like the Bears relax a bit til it looks like the offense wants to flex a bit, then they brutally smack them down.

A bad scheme is a bad scheme, but even a good scheme can be bad with bad players, or players that just don't fit the scheme. Changing to a 3-4 isn't going to make this defense better, just different. It all depends on what players they bring in to make it better.

You are using the cover 2 under Caldwell, which I said was horrible. Try using the Dungy years to find an example.

one thing about the bears, they are........................a good football team.

How much do they pay you Dierdorf? If its more than free concessions you're overpaid.

Ya, that cover 2 was a terrible scheme at Tampa under Dungy. The O always carried the team. LOL

Oh right, because they had spectacular defensive players. Probably 2-3 future Hall of Famers with Barber, Brooks, and Sapp.

We had 2 pass rushers and that was it.

Then what is the difference of the 3-4 for the Colts this year. Using your logic this D should dominate.

Again, I think this team will dominate in a couple of years.

There was a huge difference. While the talent level didn't decrease much, if at all, but overall the defense was much worse. Under Dungy while the D couldn't stop the run, they were usually good against the pass. Under Caldwell they sucked against both.

I'd say they are. The Bears have had some nice additions in recent years - Peppers, Marshall, Cutler. They're going to be a good team this year.

You try using the Dungy years. Except for 2007, the D was never good.

How so? You still need players to make any scheme work effectively.

We cycled through players under dungy as we did with caldwell so ill just call that even. Difference was our offense under Dungy. Once our offense fell apart, the defense was exposed.

Then you compared what i said to Tampas O and D. Which is clearly the right response since they had great freaking players. No one on our defense is or ever was the caliber of Warren Sapp, Ronde Barber, or Brooks.

Oline has been horrendous today. Impressive that Luck has done as well as he has. Thank goodness most of the teams we play this year won't have as strong of a pass rush as the Bears do.
