Another ugly one, but I'll take it. Nice to break the road losing streak.

Why are we watching the final 20 seconds of a 2 score game?????
only other "1st" game still being played
Yeah I'm trying to figure out why they cut it to this game so quickly. We don't even get one shot of a smiling Luck at the end of th egame, we had to rush to watch the Packers finish the Jags?

I have been noticing that they have been quick to switch away this year.

That was a hellacious mess of a game. But usually THESE are the games that are harder to pull out. I commend these Colts!

Why? He doesn't have a heart condition, its cancer. If you've ever been around anyone who's gone through chemotherapy, a close football game doens't compare.

Timekeeper is doing somethign funny here with the clock, no way that play only takes 3 seconds.
YEP! I said the same exact thing to my son. No way that run was just three seconds.

How many times have we heard "the goalline stretches all around the world"

Its a touchdown.
This is no longer the rule. A few years ago they changed it to the ball has to cross the plane inside the pylon (it did).

Quote:

a ball in possession of an airborne runner is on, above, or behind the plane of the goal line, and some
part of the ball passed over or inside the pylon

Huh, when did they change that rule? It used to be that as long as part of the player crossed in bounds it was a TD.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly when. It's only been within the past few years, though.

Had to have been recently because I remember Vick scoring one with the Eagles when his whole body was out of bounds but he stuck his hand, without the ball in it, over the pylon and it was a TD.

Was he running? The "inside the pylon" thing only applies if you leap into the air.

He dove, so he was in the air, and the announcers mentioned the "goalline going around the world. It was a monday night game. They said only a part of his body had to be inside the pylon, not the ball. It was real similar to the Ballard play, except he wasn't turned around backwards and the ball wasn't inside the pylon, just his hand.

Well it wouldn't shock me if one of those MNF bafoons flubbed the rule.

Well they didn't flub it unless the ref did, cause he reviewed it and came back with TD, but this was a few years ago, maybe Vick's first year in Philly? Not sure how long ago that was, but I'm wondering if the rule you quoted was new since then.

I dont' always keep up with the rule changes.

The Competition Committee reviewed the definition of a score and how to call an airborne runner crossing over the goal line pylon. In previous seasons, an airborne runner had to get any part of his body inside or over the goal line pylon before he touched out of bounds to be awarded a score. This was not consistent with spotting the ball elsewhere. Now an airborne runner must get any part of the football to pass over or inside the goal line pylon before he touches out of bounds to be awarded a score. This will make the rule easier to understand and consistent everywhere along the sideline.

Huh, then maybe it was when he was still with the Falcons? I'll bet it was this play that I'm thinking of that resulted in that rule change, cause it was a strange looking play. Seriously his entire body was out of bounds, all of it, way out of bounds and he stretched an empty hand out over the pilon to make it a touchdown. It got reviewed by instant replay and upheld because of him stretching out his empty hand as only a part of his body had to be inside the pylon. I thought it was more recent than 2006 but it couldnt' have been.

It was a prime time night game, either Monday or Sunday night, no one else remembers this game?
