Current Estimated Cap Room: $43 Million

Biggest Colts' 2013 Unsigned Free Agents:

  • Austin Collie
  • Jerraud Powers

Top NFL 2013 Unsigned Free Agents:

http://nfltraderumors.co/nfltr-features2013-nfl-free-agents/

Quote:

1. Ryan Clady
2. Jairus Byrd
3. Victor Cruz (Restricted)
4. Andre Smith
5. Dwayne Bowe
6. Henry Melton
7. Greg Jennings
8. Wes Welker
9. Andy Levitre
10. Joe Flacco

Some of these guys are bound to get franchised (Clady, Smith, and Flacco for sure).
Big year for wide receivers. If we could land Bowe or Jennings, that would be monstrous.

EDIT: Just throwing this into the first post after I combined the topics. -IC45

Read a quote somewhere recently where Grigson said rookie OL is harder than rookie CB... maybe you're on to something.

Just read that the 49ers will not give Goldson the franchise tag. Thoughts on an all-pro safety coming to Indy?

It's another option.

We've got a lot...

As long as no one guy breaks our bank, I'm ok with getting them. I wanna spend that money, for sure, but I want to spread it around more than anything.

I'd rather add 2 quality players than 5 mid-level players, myself.

I just don't like the thought of constraining our options, like in years past, by investing to much into too few.

If we don't have to fill in our roster with UDFA's, like we used to, then I don't want to...

Here's one writer's ranking of the available free agents this year:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000145968/article/mike-wallace-dashon-goldson-among-top-free-agents?campaign=Twitter_atl_rosenthal
Falcons released CB Dunta Robinson, RB Michael Turner and DE John Abraham today.
The Bills have franchised S Jairus Byrd. Guess we can cross him off the wish list. Ed Reed is suddenly looking even better.

The Colts have alot of wiggleroom and space. If Grigson lets the market come to him, the outcome should be dandy.

And if Nnamdi gets cut...

Even if we don't get a big name guy, the amount of CB's available should at least drive the price down for them, right?

I really like Ellerbe; and really ain't as high on Angerer and/or Freeman. They have the numbers, but I see on many occasion where alot of big plays are made against them not getting off their blocks. I for one, ain't impresswed with guys that make plays 10 yards down the field. I wonder if he's on Pagano's short list, as opposed to Kruger, Reed and Williams...as many sources are suggesting.

I'm hoping Angerer's issues were due to injury and the new defense and that he'll come around.

Jake long is asking for 11 million a year. That's an awful lot for a guy who's got injury questions.

Per Baltimore Sun Colts to target Cary Williams.

6'1" 190 CB 4.43 40

In 2010, Williams was suspended for the first two games of the season for conduct against the NFL's personnel conduct policy. Very few details were disclosed on the specifics of Williams' actions.

Originally 7th round pick of Titans.

Looks like all of those years of abusing the cap is finally catching up with the Redskins a bit.

Really it's only the one year of abusing the uncapped rules that is catching up with them.

I love reading about teams being strapped for cash, knowing that we can go after pretty much anyone we want.

It's a good feeling.

According to Profootballtalk.com, there is "little or no chatter in league circles" about any team making a major push for free agent LT Jake Long.

"Some" NFL teams reportedly believe Long needs to play right tackle instead of left, which would severely diminish his market value. Long is also coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons. Our gut feeling all along has been that Long will wind up re-signing with the Dolphins on a deal worth significantly less than he's seeking. His current asking price is a laughable $11 million a year.

Unless Miami insults him, re-signing with them at a lower cost isn't too far fetched. Wouldn't mind signing him to play RT, but certainly not for anywhere near 11 Million.

According to this, Miami seems to have made Wallace the best offer so far

Here's the rest in case anyone finds it of interest:
http://www.profootballcentral.com/2013/03/11/colts-to-make-a-push-for-jake-long/

"... offseason and are strongly pursuing tackle Jake Long. Colts also pursuing Andy Levitre and have contacted agent for Brandon Moore."

Interesting bit about Moore I hadn't seen...
I'm still skeptical re: Long, but I did see a statement from Dr. James Andrews vouching for his health recently... FWIW.

Just saw Adrian Wilson was released. He's old, but we could use a strong safety...

I'm glad we are contacting Moore. There are sites that actually have him rated as a better guard than Levitre and Vasquez and he'll probably be cheaper.
Also, sounds like the niners are going to go after Ed Reed if they can't resign Dashon Goldson.
