Current Estimated Cap Room: $43 Million

Biggest Colts' 2013 Unsigned Free Agents:

  • Austin Collie
  • Jerraud Powers

Top NFL 2013 Unsigned Free Agents:

http://nfltraderumors.co/nfltr-features2013-nfl-free-agents/

Quote:

1. Ryan Clady
2. Jairus Byrd
3. Victor Cruz (Restricted)
4. Andre Smith
5. Dwayne Bowe
6. Henry Melton
7. Greg Jennings
8. Wes Welker
9. Andy Levitre
10. Joe Flacco

Some of these guys are bound to get franchised (Clady, Smith, and Flacco for sure).
Big year for wide receivers. If we could land Bowe or Jennings, that would be monstrous.

EDIT: Just throwing this into the first post after I combined the topics. -IC45

Another thing about contracts, which I know very little about - but I would think the signings of Walden and Sidbury would be significantly more team friendly, meaning less upfront guaranteed money - probably a good signing bonus, but then more salary in the last 2 years, where if the player does not pan out, they can be cut.I would think that would be an important part of judging the contracts handed out (ie the Walden contract).

These are some nice safe signings. Curious to see if we add one or two big names, but truthfully there are no hands down, pay them whatever they want free agents out there this year. I'd like to see at least one or two more offensive line signings, even if they're largely no names, just to add to the competition in camp.

Walden shows occasion flashes.
Sidbury played with the Falcons.
Just read up on Sidbury...young, pass rushing DE. For some reason buried on the Falcons bench. Could be a sleeper - hungry - sounds like a good move.

Walden was 4 years 16 million. Now that I don't get. Even if you think he can be a good player, he hasn't done anything yet. Weird they couldn't get him for less. I love all the other signings so far though, so I won't complain.

Landry is hopefully going to sign. Avril would be amazing, but I doubt that.
Walden getting negative comments about his ability from Packers' fans on their Scout forum. No one seems like they'll miss him. Colts must have seen something in him.
Walden was a head-scratcher for me too. Did a little digging around, found out he signed with expectation to start opposite Mathis, so I'm guessing no Avril?
Also had drawn strong interest from a couple of other teams, Chiefs & Raiders, I believe.
Reviews seem to be mixed on this guy (mostly negative in fact), but I am going to re-post a link I found on another forum if anyone wants to read another perspective:

Personally, I'd much rather pay him 4M per, than Avril or Kruger twice that amount.

This is the questionable part, if this is true i fear for our pass rush even more next season, 9 sacks in 5 years doesnt fill me with confidence in that regard.

though at least hes played in a 3-4

This wasn't a good year for pass rushers in F.A.

Tells me he's likely insurance and we're expecting to draft a pass rusher in the first or third round. Early at any rate. Also thinking we might go WR early, as we haven't made any FA signings there and we need some depth/future prospects at the position.

Absolutely agree. That we didn't give Kruger what he wanted tells me that Pagano and company weren't that high on him. And with Avril, they might have feared another Freeney situation, only this time you have no one year out if it doesn't work.

Well put. Mingo could drop from what I hear, but at 4m per, he's likely gonna be the starter.

Quoting a poster (WSnotch) from the Colts.com forum:
"Walden vs. Freeney, Walden had 4x the tackles, 2 less sacks, 2 more INTs, is 6 years younger and will get paid $10 mil less per year.
Sounds better when it's put like this.. lol"

He's an average player to date with some upside potential. He played an excellent game at LOS last year, so I guess he made a favorable impression.

I'm also waiting to see if a FA WR or two are brought in, or whether Avery is re-signed.

If Nnamdi comes at the right price, pick him up. Philly didn't know how to use him
I believe Pagano was NNamdi's DB coach during his good years in Oakland??

COULD HAPPEN BRO.

Or maybe not, Pagano in Oakland was a while ago.

Avery is visiting KC today. If Avery signs elsewhere, WR becomes our biggest need at this point, imo.

Also, we resigned Butler to a 2 year deal.

If Avery signs elsewhere, we need two WRs, in my estimation. We'd be losing Collie and Avery from last season's roster. We'd have Wayne and Hilton and Brazil is a big question mark. I know there are others on the roster, but none that will be serious contributors.

Just read that Avery signed with KC. I agree, we probably need to sign a vet and draft a young guy with upside.

Yeah, funny how everyone is starting to join the "Hey, we should probably sign a WR in the off-season" bandwagon.

Now let's go get Jennings.

Didn't Jennings decline $10M from the packers recently?
Irsay tweet said that Landry is literally in the building at this moment. Hopefully he doesn't leave without a horseshoe on his helmet

He declined 10 because he thought he'd get 12. He isn't being talked about at all.

Shonn Green signed with the Titans.

Saffold will "likely" ask the Rams to trade him if they sign free agent Jake Long.

Sounds like Jennings will stay in Green Bay. At least that was the last I'd heard. I've been thinking WR and pass rusher in rounds 1 and 3, and I think that's still where things are headed. Could be drafting two receivers at this rate.
I wonder what Avery got from KC. I'd still have taken him back on the right contract over Welker and Jennings for big money. Looking at it now, the Broncos got a pretty sweet deal with Welker.

Manusky was at Gainesville for Gators' Pro day. I'm sure he was checking out Elam's work.

That's a tough call, but all of these two and three year deals we're seeing are pretty reasonable.

Multiple reports that Landry is likely to sign with the Colts tonight before leaving town. I'll believe it when I see it, at this point.
