Since the Draft is essentially only a few weeks away now it seemed like a good time to throw up a thread where we can post Draft related stuff - mock draft links, info on who the Colts have apparent interest in, whose stock is rising or falling etc., whatever - if anyone feels like it. I know mock drafts are hit and miss (mostly miss) but this site has a lot of links to mocks around the internet if you want to kill some time: http://walterfootball.com/draftdata.php Here is a list from Walterfootball.com of players the Colts have shown interest in: http://walterfootball.com/draft2013meetingsteams.php SR - Senior Bowl meeting. EW - East-West Shrine meeting. COM - Combine meeting. INT - Interested. VINT - Very Interested. PRO - Pro Day meeting. PRI - Private Workout. % - indicates more than one meeting. # - indicates meeting set up outside of the 2013 Senior Bowl or the 2013 East-West Shrine Game Anthony Capasso, WR, Ashland (PRO) DeWayne Cherrington, DL, Mississippi State (PRO) Corey Fuller, WR, Virginia Tech (EW) Tyrone Goard, WR, Eastern Kentucky (PRI) Ray Graham, RB, Pittsburgh (EW) MarQueis Gray, TE, Minnesota (PRI) Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma (COM) (INT) (SR) Luke Marquardt, OT, Azusa Pacific (COM) Vance McDonald, TE, Rice (SR) Christine Michael, RB, Texas A&M (PRI) Ty Powell, LB, Harding (SR) Shamarko Thomas, S, Syracuse (EW) Earl Watford, OL, James Madison (EW) Duke Williams, S, Nevada (PRI) Sylvester Williams, DL, North Carolina (SR) ---------------------------------------- We can also add: Quinton Patton, WR, La. Michael can be dynamite if he stays the course. LOVE Johnson, but Grigson has a better shot at winning Powerball. |

Colts.com looks at the Centers: http://www.colts.com/news/article-1/2013-NFL-DRAFT-PREVIEW--CENTERS/3c911d81-ffea-492c-b8f2-7dbb5ba7feac Mainly a Barrett Jones piece. Mentions his injury: Jones, 6-5, 306, was overcoming a lis franc injury and anticipated no recovery problems. Sounds more promising than the rumors he could miss significant time his rookie year because of it. Yeah Johnson is a long shot for sure. Michael looks good. I like Gillislee and Gio Bernard too, as guys that might fit the WCO passing game. Edited by DarkHorseColts, Apr 5 2013, 03:36 PM.

Colts work out LSU RB Spencer Ware: http://nflspinzone.com/2013/04/09/indianapolis-colts-work-out-spencer-ware/ LSU Tigers running back Spencer Ware is receiving interest from a pair of AFC playoff teams, as the New England Patriots sent renowned running backs coach Ivan Fears down to LSU yesterday to work out Ware, Russell Shepard, and fellow LSU running back Michael Ford. Today, Aaron Wilson of Scout.com is also reporting that the Indianapolis Colts are hosting Ware today. |

The thing is that no one except those in the COLTS' organization know if it is a smokescreen or legitimate interest. The interview of Miliner is clearly a smoke screen. There is no way he falls to #24, and without a second pick the Colts wont trade up for him. By interviewing Miliner, Grigson is sending out the message that he is looking to draft a DB in the first round- Trufant, Ciprien or Hayden- one of the players that realistically might be there. Classic misdirection. |

There's a good article on this on NFL.com: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap1000000159441/article/what-is-the-true-meaning-behind-prospect-visits-good-question "There's no rhyme or reason," Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland told reporters on Thursday. "Some guys I have a lot of interest in, and some guys I have no interest in at all, but there is really no rhyme or reason." Um, OK. That sums it up. Visits either mean something, nothing or anything in between. |

Wouldn't it actually be misdirection if he went after a completely different position than DB, like OL? And the opposite of RB is Safety, right? Or maybe LB or NT? If we look at any QB's, then what we really want is a kicker? And, I'm lost....... Like the article said, who really knows our teams intentions? Probably just casting a net and taking in whatever information they can. Based on the moves Grigs made this off-season, he just wants to view all his options. Even the unlikely ones. I like it, though. It should keep him pretty open minded, which is nice to see. Because just like we don't know what our team will do, our team doesn't know what other teams will do. Anything can happen. |

Based on the differing opinions on needs and what positions should be targeted, just on this site, it definitely seems like a toss up for us. I guess that's why it was even more important to address all of the positions we did in FA, to help our confidence in taking the BPA. That article, which I agree with, will probably have people worried who wanted to go after OL or DL with our first pick. (Fluker especially) Does seem to indicate that we'll be in a position to trade down around our pick, though, with teams possibly looking to get one of the LB's, WR's, CB's, QB's or Eifert where we pick... |

There should be a couple o-lineman available around the time we pick, according to most draft boards (warford, watson, maybe one other) and this seems to be a good draft for both 0-line and receivers. Trading down seems particularly more possible this year than others. I wouldn't mind that. |

We need to protect Luck and we need a strong defense. So I think we need another guard, a stronger pass rush, and another CB. We can find a guard in the 3rd. Would love to trade down with 49ers and get there 1st, a 3rd, and maybe a number 5 |

Shoot. If that's it... I like the way it's drawn-out. It's a long off-season. Any time there is potential for big things to happen for our team, I want to be able to enjoy it. So, the more time, the better. Probably would be better if it started Friday night and went to Sunday afternoon, though... |

I probably wasted some Saturdays on the old format, especially with Polian drafting for us, but I also liked it better. Only true draft nuts watch the thing anyway. You're not really drawing more viewers by putting it in a prime time slot. And Friday night is the absolute worst time to do it, I think. Do the top five or ten on Thursday if you really think it will draw viewers and then do the rest of Sat. and Sun. That said, I still enjoy it and will be tuning in tomorrow. At the beginning of last year I'd thought that we would be picking in the top 10-15 this year and it would be exciting, but we're back down towards the bottom again, and with no #2, it's not so interesting from a Colts perspective. Plus, it draaaaggggss on. I'm thinking DB or WR. But, between the last week of the hockey regular season, the Mecum car auction from K.C., baseball, and one of the few shows that I watch - Rehab Addict - I'll only be peaking in on the draft up to and after the Colts pick. |

Truthfully, draft day last year wasn't that exciting because most everyone already knew who we were going to pick. I don't think we've had a really intriguing early first round since the days of the James and Freeney selections. |

There are rumors floating that Oakland is eyeing DJ Hayden(who has been floated as someone who might be there for the Colts at 24) with the #3 pick if they can't trade back a little. That would certainly be an interesting move. |

Yeah me too. Draft weekend used to be a tradition, just like watching games. Have some friends over, crack open a beer, have the tv on all day, heck all weekend, argue about who took who and which players are going to suck. You can't do that on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I don't really watch the draft anymore. I used to watch every second of it. Or I'd have the tv on during it, even if I wasn't paying attention to each pick. Now I usually forget that it is on and read about the picks later. Obviously I'm in the minority since ratings are up, but the format change lost me as a viewer. |
