I've noticed that more and more fans of Corpse Party are below 18 years old (including those who signed up on this forum). Considering the games are rated M, do you think that those who are underage should not be allowed to play the games? Should the rating for this game lowered to T instead? If you're an adult (18+), what's your opinion about this matter? Would you allow your younger siblings/children have access to Corpse Party? If you're under 18, why do you think it's okay for you to see such material? If you're told by someone that you can't play the game or anything Corpse Party related because you're underage, what will be your response?

No neutral option because it'll be too easy. However, you're welcome to talk about any conflicts you have and vote which sides you're inclined more.

I'm not bashing or discriminating any age group here. Let's have a nice and civil discussion.

Personally, I think it does not matter. Children and teens grow up fast nowadays, and with more TV shows and movies depict violence, gore and nudity, Corpse Party is not as mature they make it out to be. Some people may feel uncomfortable at first, but those who like it will stick to the series, while those who don't will stay away from it. I'd definitely recommend the series to people who are 13 years old and above, but not below because I'm afraid I'll scar them for life, lol. I might feel quite uneasy if I see a 10 years old girl drawing their favorite Corpse Party characters bathed in blood? But I don't think seeing Corpse Party alone will turn these children into murderers like Sachiko or something. Therefore, my vote goes to disagree.

I'm underage (13 years old, turning 14 on December 24th).

I think it's alright for me to see such material because I have the maturity to separate reality from fiction. If i play horror games such as Corpse Party, Manhunt, Resident Evil or the like, it doesn't mean that those games are going to affect my personality to a level that would be considered troublesome in real life.

If someone tells me "You can't play this game because you're underage"... I've played all kinds of horror games since I was 7 years old (not without my fair share of childhood trauma, of course xD) and seen all kinds of horror movies so... I just kind of ignore them

Yeah, I know this was short... I have a great difficulty expressing my opinion, to be honest.

So... yeah, I voted "Disagree"... just my two cents.

I can't really speak for everyone on this forum about the rating system.(Granted, to me, M rated games are some of the funnest anyway so I'm biased)
There are worse games out there than Corpse Party for when it comes to the content.(Like take for instance, I played Conker's Bad Fur Day when I was seven years old and there are scenes in that game that are way worse because its not reliant on imagination)

However, when I have a kid, one day, I wouldn't be sure if this is the kind of games I'd like to expose to my her.(I'm confident that I'll have a daughter... Not because of my username, by the way)
But I don't know, only time will tell.
So I voted "Disagree" despite being conflicted.

That's my two cents, I suppose.

@Hakai: No, it's okay. Short or not, your opinion still counts. It's good to see more people speak up their mind.

From what I've seen I'm one of the older members of the forum (27).

I don't think a game like corpse party should be allowed to be purchased in stores by people under 18, however I don't think its wrong that people under that age, if mature enough, to play it. But I think its a parents decision at the end of the day, lots of people say 'I'm mature, I don't scare easy', whilst true, it just means the person is mature with some things. I've plenty of family who can watch gore and murder, but a sex scene makes them giggle half to death, thats just selective maturity. Would I let my children play Corpse Party before 14, no, most probably not, however if they seem pretty mature and can easily separate real life from fantasy, I'd let them try it out.

The series gore aspect isn't really too bad in my opinion, nor is the sexuality in the games, the manga on the otherhand is where the gore is detailed as hell, but the sexuality is through the roof, the games don't have ghosts sucking breasts or Yuka-chan pissing her underwear in full shot, or countless other underwear shots.

I don't nessesarily think the whole 'I played/watched X movie/game when I was younger' is much of a defense, I played MGS1 when I was 11, the games a 16 rating, I played resident evil when I was still around the same age (18 rating). But now I'm 27 and a horror movie like the grudge scares the living f*ck out of me, you can't really compare 2 things unless they're very similar, hell, silent hill still freaks me out now.

I can't quite agree with this, TV shows and movies depict violence, gore and nudity yes, but the vast majority of those shows aren't made for children, some are made for 16+ though, corpse party isn't as gorey as something like SAW sure, but someone under the age of 16 shouldn't really have seen SAW anyway, they're not supposed to see it, they just do. People aren't supposed to have sex until 18 in the US, how many actually wait that long? But on the flip side of that, how many adults are terrified by something compared to children, a lot.

For me, it depends on how well the person can handle games like Corpse Party. If they're mature enough to be able to play it, then it's fine.

However, I do think that it should be 13 year olds at the very youngest, with perhaps a leaning towards about 15+. (Though, I am surprised to find out your age, Hakai. I thought you were 16 or so from how I've seen you act.)

So, I voted "Disagree" since it relies more on the individuals maturity/ability to handle things like gore in general. No two people are exactly alike.

I don't see Corpse Party as a game for only adults, I know that some events in the game are very creepy, but that doesn't mean that people under 18 can't enjoy this game... Personaly, when I first saw Corpse Party (thanks to Cry), there was 2 scenes that for me are strong and can affect some people, I'll put an spolier just in case... (Spoliers about Corpse Party)
Spoiler: click to toggle

These are the only 2 scenes from the game that are strong to my eyes (I don't mean that they can lead you to a trauma), I just think that those scenes are the strongest (we can add MAYBE the Sachiko's scene when she kill the kids, for me isn't strong enough, but maybe for some people yes).
And about the gore, well, the game show us a lot of dead bodies, but that's very light for me, but some pictures of the bodies maybe can be strong... but about BLOOD inside the game, there is not much about that... I'll make an spolier just in case... (Spoliers about Corpse Party)
Spoiler: click to toggle

The sountrack creates a perfect atmosphere and gives to the game more of that "scary" thing, maybe more that the game actually is...
So in fact, I don't think that Corpse Party is a great deal that can left young people with a chillhood trauma, the game to be (+18) is too much to me, Corpse Party fans are the majority under 18 years old.
Of course, it depends on how mature is the person who is playing, if they are able to separate reality from fiction, is okay to them to play (and depending about if they are easily scared or not)...
Either way, I disagree with this...

Well, this would be actually creepy xD... so 13 years old is okay for me...

Me too, is just like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (aka. GTA: SA)... I seen too many kids (about 7-12) playing a game where a gangster is free to kill everyone with tons of weapons (either way, I loved this game before xD), so If just think like that, TONS of kids would get up from their computers, they will take a handgun and go outside to kill anyone who gets in their way...

I'm not a big fan of horror movies/games, I started to play "scary" games when I was 12 years old, same age that I start to see horror movies... sometimes I get scared, but is not big deal, anyways, as I said before, I'm not a great fan of horror genre... I have to admit, If I see you back when you got 7 years old and I see you playing/watching a horror game/movie in the night, and enjoying it, I'll get running away from you as fast as I can...

Well. I'm 19 but I used to play Unreal Tournament with 7 so... I dont think violent games make violent people. If you find it fun, just enjoy it.
