Japanese ratings are a tad unusual, part of this is because the legal age in which you are considered an adult in Japan is 20 years old. Thats pretty old, and thats also the age where time for games drops as thats after college, so its when most people are hunting for jobs, so that age buys games less, a year or so after game buying comes around again as people have an income and a steady job usually. Half of this topic is unrelated to the question and is just people replying to eachother. I also have to say, I think referring to yourself as mature, sort of voids the meaning of it, most people who are mature don't consider them self to be so, I mean I don't consider myself to be 'mature' but I have a fulltime job, I've moved countries several times. Its not like I'm not mature, i just don't give myself the label. Its sort of like the whole 'if you have to tell a girl you're a nice guy, you're probably not' thing, except less so. Being mature or not isn't a thing to be proud of anymore than feeding your kids or being nice to your girlfriend is, its a thing thats expected of you. I'd say its common to be mature about one thing but immature about another, ie: attitude towards studies vs giggle at the concept of sex. I don't think videogames lead to violence, only an idiot thinks that, but I do think that experiences lead to world views, whether those be positive or negative. I have a brother who's 15, he plays GTA and Saints Row and whatnot quite often, he's an extrovert, quite social, but he's always saying strange things like 'Shopkeeper speaks to me like that, I'll beat him with a baseball bat', he's not crazy, but the fact of the matter is his view on things is a little different, sure he won't actually do any of that, but the fact that he says it when angry is, in my opinion, a sign that his view of what is and isn't acceptable is a little warped from his intake of various entertainment forms. |

I was killing billions of souls in GTA 3 when I was a child... If I know the kid is "mature enough.." .Yeah, sure.. And while at it... We'll watch it together.. :3 I Disagree on that poll Edited by DeathkaiserG, August 7, 2014, 6:14 pm.

I don't think the rating should be lower than 18+. It's one thing for a child/teen to buy the game on their own, or for a parent to buy the game for their kid without caring about the rating b/c it's their choice; but I think the rating still needs to be there for some parents or guardians to help distinguish it from games that are more suitable for their kids/some teens. ![]() I know if I have a kid, I would like to look at the rating to see if it's appropriate. A lot of people still think all anime/cartoon like games are for kids, and I think the rating would help give parents an idea before they decide if they would buy it with their money for their kids. It's a personal choice, but they would still be informed of the mature content. i was personally exposed to scary things (both willingly and unwillingly) when I was younger like Resident Evil, CarnEvil, and Fatal Frame, and nightmares on occasion from my older brother and his friends. X_X If my younger sibling wanted to watch me play, I would have to see how mature they are. To let them play by themselves they would have to be even more mature, b/c they would be playing on their own. i know some kids who play GTA and older people who don't like scary games at all XwX It all depends on the individual. Corpse Party is a different kind of scary than the games i mentioned that scared me but it can still be a bit traumatizing depending on the individual maturity level. So it's still up to the individual's discretion, but i think the rating would help buyers . ^w^ pika |

I am going to go with disagree. I also disagree with the 13+ going on, (i only read the first page) because I picked up and enjoyed corpse party when I was eleven. That was maybe a year or so after it came out. I think that, also, corpse party is a horror game, so it was ment to be scary, and sure, you need to be mature, but not so mature as to you wont react to this stuff. (i.e. Kizami) But not such little maturity that the game will cause trouble to the player. Such as a small child, but like someone else said, children are growing up fast. I've babysat kidnergardeners who enjoyed 'Family Guy', so I had to go with disagree. |

Call me a big lamer, but overall, I have to agree that Corpse Party is not for children, so I voted agree. The ratings exist for a reason, however, if a parent feels that their kid is able to handle such things without completely losing it or something, the by all means go for it. Heck I grew up playing Mortal Kombat, Conker's Bad Fur Day, among other titles that would probably earn any normal kid back then either a time out or a butt whuppin, and I turned out okay. So I guess I really mean Corpse Party, like other M rated games, should be reviewed by a person's parents or guardians before purchase unless said person is over 18. That's just following the law, technically. And not gonna lie, my opinion is just based on the fact that I have a bunch of kids come up to me each day at work trying to buy the latest call of Duty or something, and I legally have to have their parent's consent to sell it to them/Valid I.D. This also based on the fact that I've had personal experience with a younger relative catching me play Corpse Party one time. Long story short, he caught me playing Book of Shadows and it got to a really messed up part (I forget which) and he ended up having nightmares because of it, and I received a very angry call from my cousin the next day. It took a lot of arguing just to get her off of my back, basically. Also, if I were to actually have children, they wouldn't know of Corpse Party's existence until I was sure they were ready for it, no matter how old they were. Game gets PRETTY messed up at points, we all know that x3 Tl;Dr version: No, unless I know for a fact the person under 18 would be able to handle it and if it were my kid that I don't have, I would play it with them to review it and make sure they can handle it. If they pass? Okay, have fun. If not, it's back to the store (a.k.a. I'm keeping it for myself >:3) |

I disagree. As long as the person playing it can handle the content, then I think it's fine. Just because someone is young, doesn't mean that they're not mature towards this [Depending on the person, really... There are people who are young who can't handle things like Corpse Party and I think some older people aswell I guess?]. But yes, I wouldn't recommend for anyone under 10 to be playing it [It'd be weird to see someone as young as that playing something like this] I myself am 13 and I love Corpse Party, I can handle the things that are in the game. I'm 16 turning 17 in a few months and first played corpse party when I was 14. I think that it should have a 18+ rating but I don't think that you need to be 18+ to play it. Similar to how GTA has a 18+ rating but kids as young as 7 play it. I think what matters most is if you can keep reality and the gaming world separate. The age you can play corpse party depends on the person, some people would be fine playing it at 12 where as some won't even be able to play it at 100. |
