Gotta love thieves, let's have story time, shall we?

So, this past holiday season, I sent my girlfriend my old 3DS and a few games for Christmas, since I recently got an XL. They got there pretty quickly, and she's happily playing them. That's good! But recently, we were talking about a certain game both of us enjoy. The game was 999 of the Zero Escape series, a game I had a copy of, and she played via emulation a while back.

She was telling me how she was going to get a physical copy at some point, because a. She doesn't really care for emulation. And b. She likes adding things to her collection. Now I, being done with my copy, offer to send it in the mail to her. After convincing her that I beat that game eight ways to Sunday and was most likely never gonna pick it up again, I send it to her.

Fast forward to today, she gets the package. ...Just the package, no game, just torn-open paper. Needless to say, she was pretty upset about it, she's a very sweet girl and nothing like that has ever happened to her, ever.

Now, the game itself isn't that big a deal. It's inexpensive, and I've already ordered her another copy with tracking. Not to mention, I got it insured, so I'm not taking a financial hit over this. The part that pisses me off is that someone not only stole from her (and in turn, stole from me.), but then had the nerve to give her an empty package just to say they completed the delivery. The bottom line is that I sent someone I love a present to show how much I care about them, and someone had to be rotten and steal it, then say 'oh, your stuff's gone, tough.'

Not only is it incredibly wrong to be stealing something in the first place (especially a postal worker, who you kind of don't have much choice but to trust them with packages), but they disrespected my girlfriend by telling her that they 'lost the item' and gave her the empty package saying 'there was nothing they could do about it.'

Needless to say, not only has the incident been reported, but I'll most likely use either FedEx or UPS to ship more expensive/important items, which sucks, because they cost more. Moral of the story? Thieves suck.

Well, I was certainly mad enough to do just that. But I figured that would be a bit extreme. If someone sued the USPS every time something was either lost or stolen, there would no longer be a USPS. Wouldn't be very fair to take a shot at an entire organization of generally dedicated people because one person decided to be a jerk

(Plus, suing people would require a lawyer, which costs WAY more than I currently make lol)

I appreciate the suggestion, though!
