I think the Higurashi anime can be pretty enjoyable if you give it a chance to progress a bit, and haven't read the visual novels. If you have read the visual novels though, it's probably going to annoy you a bunch, due to all the stuff the anime changed or left out. I LOVED the anime, though I'd imagine most anyone who both saw the anime and read the visual novel would find the visual novel the better experience. I haven't actually read the visual novel yet, but learned a good deal about the changes and left out stuff after watching the anime, so a bunch of the changes annoy me as welll.

The same can't be said for the Umineko anime though, which I hear is pretty bad even as a standalone anime.

I did like Umineko anime more than higurashi....Yeah, they say that it's not that good...some mysteries were left out, they said...but for those who havent touch the novel yet, such as myself..it's kinda enjoyable....XD

When it comes Video game turned into anime...its kinda always like that....Kinda compressed and something WILL be left out but yeah, i kinda understand that...since they were compressing a 25-50 hours of full pack story into a 12-24 episodes

just like persona 4 the animation, jam-packed..the pacing is so fast....but still good

Didn't he request a filler arc to complete some of the plot-holes? Disaster-Awakening, I think?

Yeah, I remember hearing about that. If I remember correctly, that arc was the first episode of Higurashi Kai, the anime's second season.

I know what you mean. I did enjoy Tales of the Abyss and P4 but most others are really packed together (Tales of symphonia)

I normally enjoy anime adaptations. Despite them being "inferior" to their source material. With the exception of Tsukihime and to some extent Chaos;Head

What I enjoy most about VN to anime series is that they spark interest in the VNs and cause translation groups to look into them more.

Which is why I love 11eyes and Steins;Gate animes ^_^ (Though 11eyes should've laid off all the panty shots)

Have yet to see Umineko. Read the 1st 3 VN chapters before the anime was even announced but had to reset my comp and I lost everything. Decided to watch the anime after I reread the VN but kind of just forgot about it (Still haven't finished ep 8 of the VN)

o.0 Toonami is alive? looks like i've been living under a rock

I haven't seen much of Umineko. I do know, however, that the end theme is deliciously cheesy.

Mazel's current mood is:

You never can win
it's the state I'm in
This danger thrills and my conflict kills
They say follow your heart
follow it through
But how can you
when you're split in two?
