The horror.
I've looked it up online, and I'm going to watch it in the order that it aired on tv. So that I get it the way it was originally shown to the public.

The whacked up broadcast order is mimicking the whacked up publishing order the original books had. Judging from the first six books, the events seem to be in chronological order after the sixth, but somehow I feel the anime will keep screwing with us. If Season 3 ever comes.

I did watched it the whole too, thinking it some what has codes or something i didnt find anything

The non chronological order is fine..kinda brings mystery to it..and it really does fit haruhi because its her show/book right? Creative actually

But what they've done with season 2 is screwing us..i do admit aside from that episodes the others are fine

I have been watching a bunch of old school animes that I used to watch when I was younger, since I rarely watch anime anymore since I do not have much time to invest in them. I have been watching:

  • Devil Hunter Yohko. My guilty pleasure anime and I have finally watched all six episodes. Wow, the series really went downhill.
  • Megami Paradise. An ecchi anime focusing on goddesses and stuff. It's crack and I dunno why I enjoy it.
  • Pokémon Movie shorts. Especially my favorite short, Gotta Dance! <3 I love Meowth.
  • Princess Minerva. Rewatching this again, I don't know why I even liked it in the first place. =|
  • Project A-ko. Can't go wrong with Schoolgirls and Sci-Fi. Though I kind of fell asleep on the last half of the OAV, gotta rewatch it later.
Also Kira got me watching B Kata H Kei: Yamada's First Time, a sex comedy that is just completely ridiculous. I already have watched through the first half and I gotta watch the second half one of these days.

Yeah, Kira made sure I watch the dub of it -- so I agree with your sentiments.

That anime is pure crack. Though poor Kira had to deal with me headdesking at everything, haha.

Guess I'll list some of my recommendations (minus the few that have been already mentioned).

So, lets see..

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei would have to be my favorite comedy anime. It's basically about a comically depressed teacher by the name of Nozomu Itoshiki, and his quirky students, such as the endlessly optimistic Kafuka Fuura (pen name), the anal retentive Chiri Kitsu, or the unordinarily ordinary Nami Hitō. Episodes typically poke fun of or parody all sorts of things, like society, anime, and figures of speech. Even though being more familiar to Japanese culture would probably be helpful for some of the jokes, a bunch of it seemed funny or relatable even without that sort of knowledge.

Ef - A tale of Memories is a really good Romantic drama. I remember watching it abruptly after hearing it was supposed to be good. at first, I thought it had nice art, but seemed a bit generic in some ways. After watching the first couple episodes, I got pretty into it, and was left very impressed by the end.

A tale of Memories tells the story of 3 different relationships. The first two are related, and have a love triangle as a part of the drama. I normally find myself annoyed by love triangle situations, but I felt it was handled very well in this anime.

The third story is the story of Renji Aso and Chihiro Shindo, who meet one day at a train station. Chihiro has a type of amnesia in which her memory lasts for only 13 hours. Because of this, she carries around a journal in order to remember important thoughts and events. As Renji gets to know Chihiro, he discovers that she dreams of one day writing a novel, but thinks she'll never have a chance, due to her memory. Upon hearing this, Renji decides to help her fulfill her dream. Their story tends to be the favorite of most people who watch the series.

The anime also has a sequel, Ef - A tale of Melodies which tells the stories of two other couples and is also quite good. It's a bit harder to describe those stories without spoilers, though. I'd definitely recommend watching it if you saw and enjoyed A Tale of Memories.

Here are the previews for both:

One I've been watching more recently and been really liking is Bakemonogatari.

It's a bit hard to describe, but the basic Idea is that the main character, Koyomi Araragi was a vampire for a short period, before he was cured by a man by the name of Meme Oshino. During the course of the Anime, Araragi happens upon some girls were struck with similar supernatural problems, and so he attempts to help them as he comes across them.

One thing that's notable is that it's more dialogue-focused than most, to the point that the series is more about the discussions between the characters than the events. This works pretty well though, since the dialogue's quite good. It's even visually interesting during the point where it's mainly discussion, since the animation's very nicely done, and it often cuts to visual representations of what's being discussed.

While it's a Manga rather than an anime, something else I'd very highly recommend would be Bokurano. It technically has an anime, but it's not a very good adaptation, since the anime director disliked the manga, and changed some significant aspects (Source), so that's why I suggest the manga instead.

Anyway, about Bokurano itself: The story's basically that a group of teens who sign a contract to pilot a mech in order to protect the world from incoming invaders, under the pretext of it being a game. The bigger catch though is that the one who pilots the mech dies shortly after. The series focuses less on the save-the-world plot and more on telling the stories of its characters, which makes it fairly different from your usual mecha series. Each arc's focus is on the person who's next up to pilot the mech, during which time it really gives you a good look into the mindset and motivations of the person. It The cast is kind of big, so I wasn't sure what I would think of them all at first, but I had a decent attachment to most of them by the end.

It starts a bit slow, but really gets going once the kids realize that the act of piloting the mech causes the pilot to die (It doesn't take too long) As you might expect from the premise, the series is fairly sad as well. The pilot-death aspect was really used well to further the plot and explore the mindset of the characters, though, so I can definitely say it wasn't just something that was thrown in for easy tears.

I probably don't have much more to recommend besides those, but there are various good-looking anime on my backlog, which is kinda long, since I haven't been watching anime too often lately. The next-up would be Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. I've never watched a magical girl anime before, but I'm feeling pretty confident I'm going to like this one, since I can tell it's fairly different.

Also, it's written by Gen Urobuchi, who was also the writer of Saya no Uta, which I really enjoyed, and was an immediate hint that this wasn't going to be a typical magical girl anime. It's also produced by SHAFT, who I really liked the work of in every other anime I've watched that was produced by them (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, both Ef A tale of Memories/Melodies, and Bakemonogatari), and by this early clip I've seen of the anime, looks like they did a great job here, as well:
