That's my thoughts exactly, I've often considered Heavenly Host to be a "Steppingstone" of Ravenloft.
(The school is not as powerful as Ravenloft, obviously but still...)
Also on a note, when a group of adventurer are trapped within Ravenloft, they have to make a savings throw to resist their souls from becoming darkened.
I'm actually thinking about writing a story about Ravenloft soon but it's not really set in stone yet.
I'm still reading about this realm.

What do you mean a stepping stone? I mean HH is unforgiving while Ravenloft only targets evil persons

Anyways, anyone knows how to play this game? I mean we have a roll tag... D&D seems to be a good framework for a corpse party rp..

Anyone with a good D&D knowledge?

I've been playing D&D since I was six years old and thinking back, I played one campaign in Ravenloft and it was brutal to say the least.
The reason why I call Heavenly Host a steppingstone is because I consider the realm to be like a layer of Ravenloft.(like I consider Silent Hill to be a layer of Ravenloft as well)
Sorry if this sounds blunt, by the way.

Ah... I see what you mean...

Do you think you can convert corpse party stuffs into d&d stuffs.... Instead of the current stats like Str, dex (or something like that) to something like willpower, alertness etc.

I mean if as you said playing ravenloff is brutal... Even with a dice, everyone is not safe in that rp

It would be pretty awesome XD

It shouldn't be too hard to merge the two games together.
(The stats are almost the same as D&D)
When it comes to role-playing with this kind of setting in the forums... You guys have already displayed this kind of gaming with games like "Corpse Royale".(which is why I was bummed out that I was way too late to join in)
Honestly a long time ago, my mom and dad used to play on chatrooms online with the same code mechanics as this forum.
It would be an awesome idea, I'd like to do something like this.

Oh I forgot to mention something about Ravenloft.
If your character dies within the realm of dread, (depending on your characters actions in life) he/she becomes a certain form of undead.
Like if your character was a drone all of their life, only following orders, they become a zombie.
Also the spirits who dwell within the realm can feel pain and can be killed again.(whether the ghost can come back as another form of undead is up to the DM)

Even though, Corpse Royal has its charms... The only thing we do is kill each other... Even if there is something from the school , it is still controlled by players too

Somebody proposed using dice as well... Although, I don't know what happened to that..

But with added D&D mechanics... The Heavenly Host Elememtary School's sentient-like mind is used.

The Dungeon Master/The Girl in Red can spawn traps, Change the environment, advance the story.

Plus with the stat system, there is a sense of innate luck and you can't do everything... For example, in an RP, if you want to save somebody.. You could just save them. But in a D&D mechanics, it depends upon your pre-worked stats if you can... Thus it will have an authenticity of "wanting to save a friend but your body is scared and cant move" feel... You can't be a hero and excel at all stats... You are human, so to speak.

Also the darkening system would be more organized as well, with the calculations and all.

I think D&D would neatly do this kind of stuffs... Even if im just using the knowledge of it that i got in watching american shows...

Though I wonder if it can work in forums properly?

@Ravenloft:
Well, at least its not pain all the time xD

Yeah, I can see willpower playing a big part in the role-playing.(like Corpse Party: Zero's willpower system)
And just like your example of saving your character's friend from danger, that's a will savings throw against fear.
Honestly I thought it would be a little bit of a hassle to implement D&D abilities into the forum games but this actually sounds plausible, maybe easier than I thought. (just as long as the DM/GIR is just running the game)

All in all, I like this idea, plus I can see some parallels between the two games.(for one thing, they're both games of survival... It's just one of them, the player fights monsters)

EDIT: I forgot about the how dice rolling system and making character sheets.
(The dice system shouldn't be a problem but creating a legal character could start some arguments... It usually does, sadly)

But we don't have much variety in terms of races right? Since we are all human. Therefore the stats should just be distributed to one's role or preference.

The Ability System should be a nice add to the CP rp. Like Satoshi's Charismatic leadership, Ayumi's supernatural affinity or Kizami's Strength (Able to lift heavy stuffs in HH and plus positive modifiers in human battle *though has a negative effect in willpower)

The concept sounds pretty sweet.
