I'm still sad bout her (even though she must be happy In virtual heaven)... Well, i guess it really hit me hard cause this is like the third time I seriously cried due to a video game I've had character deaths in shows and games impact me a good amount at times as well. I'm the sort that often gotten attached to people and characters, both real and fictional. It was especially bad then I was younger; there was even a game or two I stopped playing midway due to it. Now that I'm older, I really like it when a game can give me a good emotional impact, though it can still be kinda saddening when one of your favorites dies. Yeah... I also love those anime/games/shows that gives me an emotional impact... whether in a positive or negative way... What I mean by positive is the cheesy lines about Hope Love and friendship, when properly executed, can make me cry too... yeah, I'm a crybaby...XD It is so satisfying when I've encountered such things... For my current downer.. It was not only because she is my favorite character... its because she was trapped in an insane kind of plan that needs amount of ungodly "luck" by my favorite character in the male side (2nd favorite in the game overall..)..that died as well in the same plan.

Heh, I've also had some positive lines like that make me tear up or cry. A lot of them can be kinda cheesy, but I've seen some games or shows do it in a way that's well-spoken, suits the situation (or is the only light in the situation), and doesn't go overboard, which is when it can really get to you. Probably one of the stories that has been most impactful to me in terms of triggering emotions is the manga Bokurano; lots of really powerful character moments in that one. The Visual novel Ever17 would be another favorite, though with that, it's mainly 1 or 2 really powerful moments; the game as a whole is really more known and liked for other reasons. game Alundra's one that really got to me when I was younger too, to the point that I had trouble playing it past a certain point. It's still emotionally impactful now (and the game itself is an excellent Zelda-like), but the characters in it don't have as much depth as some others. There are multiple others that have impacted me aside from those, but don't wanna get too offtopic here, heh. By the way, what's the game or anime you're talking about here? Cause it sounds kinda interesting. If you don't want to spoil people due to the spoiler-like stuff you've already said, you could always put the title behind a spoiler tag.
