That is sadly true. Otherwise I would be playing RE:Outbreak online to this day. They shut down the servers long ago now, and I'm fairly certain the Japanese servers are down, too, by now, though I haven't looked that up and could be wrong. (The game is VERY old, so I'll be shocked if the servers were still up for Japan). |

Why did they shut down the servers? That's the only thing i don't understand. The game was good, for me at least. It had an original story and original characters. The scenarios where really awesome, like going back to the R.P.D police station and the final scenario was so large, but at the same time so intense. Like the final boss battle frustated so much (And the AI of my partners didn't help me much) but i keeped trying and i got the good ending. Great ending. Ahh... nostalgia. |

Well, I think there's two good answers to that. 1. The games that ran on the PS2 servers were old, and the games that use them aren't even sold anymore, so there's little merit in keeping them up. 2. The servers weren't actually run by Capcom themselves. They actually contracted the servers out and called the Service 'SNAP'. Their contract with that company was running out and they saw no profit in renewing the contract due to the fact that the PS2 was starting to reach the end of its active lifespan at that time. Thus they shut it down. |
