I put my Korean to the test yesterday and spoke with a long-time close friend from Korea of mine completely in Korean. (Spoke = typing.) As in, the characters. It took a little bit with certain translations, but he told me overall that I did very well.

Honestly, speaking/typing to an actual Korean person was my general biggest fear as far as that went, so that really did alleviate a heck of a lot of concern on my end. Was quite nice. :)

On a side note, he went (my friend) back home to Seoul and took a bunch of photos and sent them to me, so I'd also consider that a super-duper yaaaaay~!

When you and your girl weren't ready for what happened next.

I'm downloading the hell out of two of my favorite childhood games, Crash Bandicoot Warped and Crash Bandicoot 2, in that order. And I've got enough on my PSN account to get some of the DLC costumes in Tales of Xillia.

Later on, I'll be heading out to dinner with relatives that I haven't seen since Christmas of last year, so today is shaping up to be pretty promising so far :3
A tumblr? What's that? Can I eat it?
Would you leave your lives to chance? What if I told you...you didn't have a choice?
Swiggity Swag, Akihiko's in the bag!

Have y'all seen my business card yet?

Heh, I can definitely agree with you there!

Ever17's been my #1 visual novel (or hell, I may even go so far as to call it the #1 story I've played/read/experienced) ever since I beat it 3 years ago. Remember11 is a pretty close 2nd, though.

I wasn't sure how it'd compare to Remember11 -- I'll always have an extreme soft spot for it because I happened to play it first by chance, but I can't help but choose Ever17 as my first. I also agree, Remember11 is #2 for me as well~

Truthfully, despite playing some utterly amazing games with fascinating stories, I must also agree on the specific of "...as to call it the #1 story I've played/read/experienced..." Seriously. I've never been so utterly amazed, fascinated, shocked, utterly paranoid and full of anxiety while having massive amounts of fun at the same time. On a side note, I'm actually replaying the final chapter before discussing it still, because there are so many details and they still feel jumbled in my brain. I also really enjoy when a game can do that -- even though you've just played it, you truly need to go back through and carefully read to fully comprehend. An exquisite experience. :)

If anyone else wants a daily "Yay!" I highly recommend that you go play this game. Now.
Edit: Ajo's the one who brought it to my attention so thankyouthankyouthankyouuuuu. XD

Heh, I can definitely understand having a soft spot for the first you played in the series; In my case I actually have that feeling somewhat divided, since it was Ever17 I played first (being the only one in English at the time), but Remember11 that introduced me to the series and got me really wanting to play the games by randomly stumbling upon its opening on Youtube (I remember thinking it seemed like a VERY intriguing mystery/suspense game, plus I liked the artstyle).

Without going into too much detail, I'd say my main reason for Liking Ever17 a bit better is due to it delivering on practically every facet I look for in a story. Remember11 is still among the best stories I read, and is even better than Ever17 in certain regards (tension and pacing in particular), but that cliffhanger ending means that if you want a full appreciation of the story, you need to dig deeper and really analyze things (though that in itself can be kinda fun in certain ways); as a result, it also doesn't have quite as big a payoff near the end due to certain details not being fully revealed. I'd say its story is at least as good as Ever17's once you really have an understanding of it, though even if you never delve into the remaining mysteries, it's still a good enough story and exciting enough ride that it's still well worth playing through. I should also probably say for those who haven't played Remember11 yet that its story still answers enough that you'll still figure many things out and get a resolution. The story's also well-crafted enough that you aren't left completely hanging for those other mysteries, and actually have stuff to go on when it comes to theorizing.

Yeah, that's part of the reason I'm so impressed with the plots in these games; It's not often that I read a story that I need to take some time to fully comprehend once it's over. I also really love how there are a lot of details and hints scattered throughout that you may not realize upon your first playthrough, but that can be pretty neat to see and give deeper meaning to certain events later on; you can really tell that a lot of thought went into crafting the stories from the start (speaking of which, I'd really like to see how much Dubes could figure out beforehand, since I know he's pretty good at anticipating plot twists).

I should also probably say that while I'd call Ever17 the best story I've experienced, I wouldn't call it the #1 game I've played. There are many other things that can make a great game besides story, and Ever17 is still a visual novel. I'd say "favorite game" is a bit too broad a subject for me to have a #1, really, since there are so many ways in which they can make for an engaging experience; for instance, I really love the deep planning that can go into strategy games and tougher RPGs, and the satisfaction upon winning a tough fight; the tension and feeling of constantly being on-edge that a good horror game can provide; and the utter oddness and surreality of certain unique games, like Earthbound or Eastern Mind: the Lost Souls of Tong Nou.

I'm really glad to see you enjoyed it so much! I always find it fun to see what new fans think during and after playing through a game I really love, plus the resulting discussion is usually pretty fun as well. I guess you could say that having this discussion and seeing how much you enjoyed it is my "daily yey", hehe.

Though yeah, I'd definitely recommend Ever17 and Remember11 to all of you; Unless you REALLY hate cliffhanger endings (in Remember11's case) or certain anime tropes and scattered slice of life (in Ever17's case), I'd imagine you'd at find it a reasonably enjoyable story, at the very least. I don't think I've ever seen a person that hates either game after playing them to completion; the most negative reactions are usually something like "it was pretty good, but didn't quite live up to the hype", which is partly why I try not to hype them up too much (even if I often find it hard to resist). I think in general it's good not to go in with sky-high expectations for anything, though; after all, even with things generally well liked, opinion is still going to vary somewhat based on preference. Since everyone here enjoys Corpse Party though, I'd honestly be pretty shocked if anyone on these forums finished Ever17 or Remember11 and didn't find them enjoyable by the end.

(If anyone decides to play either game and needs help getting started, feel free to ask me any questions you may have, as well. Also, since I didn't mention it anywhere else, anyone playing Ever17 should apply the typofix patch.)
