Distinct Information

Trade and/or Skills: Scholar, Diplomat, Warrior

Skill Level: Schooled by private tutors in history, religion, philosophy, and languages. Experienced the high cultures of the Highlanders and the Mysters. Trained in the military arts in the most minimal fashion, basically how to ride, use a bow, and fight with a sword, since he tended to focus more on scholarly activities.

History: Born of noble stock to the Highland ruler of Dimhaavodunum and a Myster female of lower nobility, Harri is the eldest child in his family. His family, like many others of Highland stock, were constantly attempting to increase their exports of wood, minerals, and food. However, much of the Marcus's lands had been heavily damaged by years of harsh winters and improper plantation of crops. Due to the poor state of finances of the Marcus clan, Harri was to be educated by second-rate scholars. Thankfully, Harri's mother used a great deal of her dowry, behind her husband's back, to educate her eldest son.

As he was being educated, Harri took an extreme interest in many of his studies, an interest that took a great deal away from the arts of the nobility, such as military training. Fortunately, he took a great interest in riding and hawking, developing a great relationship with the animals. Despite all of Harri's scholarly interests and achievements, writing treatises on philosophy and politics for his father's use, Harri's father began to despise his elder son.

Like all noble families, a family tends to be large, with the patriarch siring many children. As such, Harri has many brothers and sisters, furthering the economic burden upon his parents. Partially due to his father's hatred and financial burden, Harri was sent to be fostered with another Highlander noble family, to the horror of his mother. While Harri was heartbroken to be seemingly left behind by his family, he decided to take it in stride and learn from his new surroundings.

At the court of the new Highlander noble, Harri learned a great deal. Court intrigue was extremely profuse. Courtiers constantly backstabbed each other for the ears of the noble, just to have a sense of influence. These actions drove Harri down a path of cynicism, viewing government as negative if in the hands of the wrong people. Regardless, Harri learned the hard lesson of how to survive as a scion of nobility, an aspect he would never have learned if he was to continue being coddled by his mother.

When Harri returned to Dimhaavodunum at the age of sixteen, he found that his place as "heir-apparent" has been usurped by his brother, an individual who was far more militaristic and aggressive than Harri. The lands of Dimbaavodunum had definitely decreased in value. The focus on the military had left farms in ruin and mines collapsed. The only thing holding the lands together was the treasury, which had been fully stocked by Harri's grandfather. However, even that was rapidly depleting. Despite the warm welcome from his mother and a few of his siblings, Harri was not very welcome in the presence of his father and oldest, younger brother.

While Harri had been gone, his father and oldest, younger brother had developed a very close bond and a mutual hatred of Harri. Harri was able to tolerate the hatred for a few years, with both of his family members being constrained by his Myster mother. Within time, Harri's father could not contain his hatred. At the age of twenty, Harri was banished and disinherited from the lands of Dimbaarvodunum, never to return.

With this devastation came a great resolve, a resolve to become something better than certain members of his family. Harri traveled south to the lands of his Myster mother, Living amongst the Myster people was very interesting for Harri. Many interests of Harri's were in line with the culture of the Mysters. However, the Mysters could not totally accept Harri. After all, Harri was a Highlander, a people prone to excessive bawdiness and conflict. While Harri learned a great deal from the Myster's, he did not feel overstaying his welcome with a people that did not fully accept him as a positive action.

At the age of 23, Harri traveled to the Kingdom of Cragsfall, a land of many people, with some of his own kind. From here on out, the story is to be left untold...

Character Description: Woolen linen robes embraces his entire body, dyed a radiant crimson, a color for the nobility. However, across the tunic is a diagonal stripe the color of nightshade, denoting a status of an outcast. Just reaching his lower thighs, the robes give way to a pair burgundy, wool trousers, loose enough for comfort, but tight enough for warmth. Surrounding his feet and reaching his shins are a pair of black leather riding boots, worn by years of travel. If an average person were to even attempt to try on Harri's clothes, they would find them far too big, due to the outcast's tall stature. While the clothing showed a noble, the sad, green eyes showed a troubled individual seeking his place in the world. Not to mention, the wrinkles slowly forming on his fair skin show years of struggle. Harri's look of melancholy is further enhanced by his jet black hair falling to his shoulders. The only semblance of his true status were the circlet of gold set with three rubies that sat around his head, the longsword laying between his belt and body, and the aquiline nose and distinct ears, characteristics of good breeding.
