Santry or whatever your name the opinions of Managers&coaches(professionals),footballers(professional) and sports writers far outweigh optaStats or optaJoe or whatever you call it.
I don't even know why you lot are arguing about Debuchy, he's a good player and a case could be made for him to be in the team of the season so far but so does Pablo Zabaleta and even Sagna.
If only you would realize that managers and coaches rely on statistical analysis. Opta is a service that provides statistics and analysis tools to clubs and it's a growing business as more and more clubs and coaches see the value in complementing their observations with numerical records of what happened in the game.
If coaches rely on statistical analysis then in the past few years Osman of Everton would have been one of the most sort after players on the planet. If coaches and managers rely on statistical analysis, then club wouldn't waste their resources on employing scouts to go watch players. If Coaches and managers rely on statictical wouldn't waste their precious time travelling to watch players. If the statistical analysis is a growing business how come the tradition of going to games to watch transfer target isn't decreasing? how come national team managers travel even MORE these days to go watch their national team players??
You're hilarious. Your continued denial of reality is astounding. "...complement their observations..." Of course you're going to watch players. As there's no way to fully quantify certain things like positioning. And data collecting and analysis isn't at the level yet where you can almost substitute it for watching a game. And also, coaches/scouts probably try to gauge the players temperament, character from what they do on the pitch, when can be important. And apparently you don't believe in reading either, but take a look at this article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22299503 Piz's world is black and white.

Piz's world is black and white.
you on the other hand try to complicate everything Let's face it. If OPTA or whoscored or castrol said Yaya was better it would be fine. Because it would be the pre-ordained answer.
Ramsey started to put in really good performances in February. Those performances got better by the stretch towards the summer. It was a quiet improvement, but for those those that weren't busy pouring shit all over threads here and watch Arsenal with an open mind Ramsey was becoming noticeably more influential in games. Yaya Touré had a season 2012 that started well, but ended less well. He was the sixth best midfielder in his position. That's fair surely. And Touré started this season well. But Ramsey started this season better than that, proven by the stats.
Everyone knows what Ballon d'or is. It's like a little cabal of networks promoting their men. National, continental and club loyalties are all seen in the vote patterns. FIFA surprised some of these people by publishing the list. Some of these people will be embarrassed by their votes now. Anyone who didn't put Ribery, Messi and Ronaldo in the top 3 has to be considered insane. Anyone who put Touré in the top 3 needs the men with the butterfly nets to chase them. The real reason behind the list being published was Septic being put under pressure that suggested he had a bias against Ronaldo.
