Reading some of the stuff on this thread now is quite hilarious. I stated it earlier in this thread that City have two central midfielders. How the most expensively assembled team end up with a central defender in midfield in their most important game of the season is unbelievable. The reality is this was pretty obvious yet the media claimed that City are incredibly deep and some here bought it. The thing is I think City also started to believe the hype.

As for the game itself, I think 1-0 flattered City. It could easily have been 4 or 5 but I am sure some of the type of situations Chelsea found themselves in were just unbelievable. I dont think I have ever seen a 4 v 1 counter attack in my life but I saw it in this game. The thing is some of this stuff doesnt surprise me, it has been there all along but nobody has exploited City's weaknesses and their gungho approach. This was probably one of the easiet big games Mourinho has coached in his career because although City always presented a danger going forward, when Chelsea broke the initial pressure, City were just so open. I hope this presents a template for other teams to follow and at least knock City down a bit from their perch.

well I didn't buy it, just DSCH and co bought it. I was surprised that pellegrini didn't access the situation in January, the best thing that can happen to pellegrini's side is to lose to Barcelona. Though I think it's easier to beat Barcelona than Chelsea.

I haven't watched much of Barcelona this season and I am not sure how they play. However a few things that City did against Arsenal and then Chelsea could be suicidal if they do it against Barcelona. The idea that you can score against us but we would out score you is really not good football. I know that Barcelona can pass the ball out of tight spaces better than anybody and if Messi sees the type of space that Hazard had in last night game, he would just dribble past the entire city team or whatever they had defending. If Barcelona have a 4 on 1 counter attack, they would score unlike Chelsea. Barcelona could also force City to be discombobulated with their keep ball football. There are just so many way it could go wrong against Barca. In the mean time, City have to face Chelsea in the FA cup and if they approach the game the same way, they would most likely get knocked out.

I've become a conglomerate!

Here's what I said yesterday:
Can't speak for "co", but what dsch has been arguing is that City's squad is no less deep than Arsenal's. They have comparable depth at fullback, are shorter at CB and in the center of midfield than Arsenal, comparable in the wide areas of midfield and attack, and well ahead of us in the forward positions.

Here is what I've said elsewhere:
We can quibble about whether City have the deepest squad in the league, but they are at least among the deepest.

There's just not that much difference between City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Does this really qualify as "buying" the media hype about City's depth?
Note: The above question is for phato and any others who have a sense of nuance when it comes to the assessment of alternate viewpoints.

There's only one way to settle this. Make a top four XI, then pick six subs.

(Shhh, I'm being facetious. That will actually keep this running for hours.)
