Important role filled as Brady retires. We have now hired one of Europe's famed academy guru.

Anyone who worries about the lack of quality of our board versus before 2007-8 should include the presence of frequent OT threads from other sports. Anyway what about Arsenal football club and it's players and coaches and an exciting title chase?

Here's an interesting discovery I made about the youth systems and their productivity. Ours is the most successful in terms of production of top players, playing for top sides. I know the Piz will hate this. Of course the lack of resources and players/agents desire to short-change a club that pays well in your early career and minds you through injury has meant a poor (considering our ambition) level of retention of all these players.

If I was setting an academy & youth system objective it would be to Arsenalise the youth players along with continuing the technical methods set out by Liam Brady. There is a more formal role for ex players here. Anyone agree?

Jonkers is a brilliant appointment. More evidence that our club is moving in the right direction, and that Wenger's footballling philosophy still attracts the biggest names.
I hope he can help our academy be more productive. Aside from Wilshere (and Gibbs?) we haven't had anyone from our academy make it in the first team.

He has newer methods than Brady by all accounts. All the same I love the fact that Brady insisted certain players removed their wooly caps when in the canteen. There was apparently more than one incident of him reminding people of the club traditions.
