Obviously the fact that Chelsea was done with United is a factor here. That said, as to Wenger's remarks, much ado about nada. He answered a question honestly, but I guess everyone will take what they want from what he said..

I also don't understand that Chelsea pretty much helped United secured 4th spot and a CL berth. Isn't it best to kick your rivals while they are down? They really need to think beyond this season.
Jose, likely rightfully so, views the fourth spot as the highest level United are capable of rising to this season, even with Mata. Therefor, he doesn't necessarily view them as a "direct" rival.

I don't understand the objections to Wenger's point here.

Rules are meant to ensure fairness. To the extent they may be used to produce the opposite, as they clearly have here, they should be changed. Chelsea have done what any sensible team would, but this particular tactic should no longer be allowed.
To me, its like spitting into the wind. The January window isn't going anywhere so why bother complaining. If the shoe was on the other foot and Jose was bitching about this (which I'm sure he would), we would laugh and call him a crybaby whiner.

You don't know that for sure. Many coaches have come out against the January transfer window over the last few seasons, and it could continue to pick up steam. Sure, changes in football are rare, but it's not impossible.

hmm maybe because they aren't selling Mata just because they want him to beat their rivals, if that's the case they would have just loaned him out, isn't it?

The objection here is that Wenger is guilty of the same thing i.e buying and selling in January.

Maybe the use of the window for this sort of "tactical" sale is rare enough that nothing will be done, but it's perfectly fair to take issue with it. Wenger does whine now and then, but this is not one of those times.

Just fucking say it piz. Wenger is both a whiner and a hypocrite here. Who needs bog around when we have a pathetic, self-loathing "supporter" like yourself?

Why is that an objection? Of course everyone will play to the rules, Wenger is not criticizing Chelsea, but he is simply saying the rules should be changed to ensure fairness.
