Pelligrini and Wenger may feel that it is unfair if they wish. It's part of the game and has been for some time now. I personally don't mind it even though it sucks for Arsenal. It makes the league more competitive and I'd prefer to see Mata ply his trade in the premiership than La Liga.

Something that hasn't been considered here re: Chelsea's outlook on the sale, FFP is looming.

I don't think FFP played much of a role here. Chelsea are gonna spend this summer and they just bought Matic for 22 mil and are about to sign Saleh for another 10-12 mil. Money out, money back in with no real change to their bottom line.

That's a hell of a lot better than money just out though, no?

Nah I think FFP is playing a bit of a role. Wenger made another good point about bilionaires "killing eachother." They just can't afford to keep raising their costs. The shakes at City have already spent $1b. So it's in their interests in keeping the costs down and comply with FFP.
Chelsea *barely* complied with FFP this year, I think they had a 50m loss and they're allowed like 35m but 15m was for the academy costs which is allowed. So with them being on the edge I can understand that they had to sell in order to make not too big a loss.
Their summer spending will continue though because they have TWENTY THREE players out on loan whom they can sell and recoup some of the money. Players like Bertrand and Lukaku will get decent fees, too.

First of all the presser where the quotes on Wenger came from had the issue of Mata instigated by the journalists and not Wenger. Wenger was factually accurate about the advantage that it confers to Chelsea. However he presumes that Moyes addressing the lack of a really good midfielder is going to shore up the discoveries of the true level of about 8 players at United - it won't. I see some limp journalists saying that Mata to Manure will be catalytic like Özil to Arsenal. This ignores that when Özil arrived Arsenal were improving, whilst the team Mata has arrived at is disimproving.
Two things here, Ozil hasn't been that good since the 1st month of the season, 2nd thing is Utd don't need 8 players. Last season this team won the league by 12 points, finished 20 points in front of Arsenal. Its not the players who need addressing.

How is selling a player worse than loaning one out ? Thats the rule that should be changed. Players like Moses, Barry, Lukaku etc. should not be allowed out on loan to other clubs in that same division.

Pelligrini has stepped up and said that he believed players shouldn't be able to move within their own league mid-season.
And he would be right.
