At least we won't see Flamini/Arteta together for the next few games, I hate that combo and we play a lot worse when we play them together. Totally agree. With Flarteta we play with a handbreak on. Shitty combo!

Somebody's going to have to explain to me our poor start. It's as if we had no idea how Southampton would approach the game. Adjustments at half time should have done the trick, but I wonder why they were even necessary.
By the way, gunnerwynner remains undefeated and pegged the goal scorers for Arsenal. Would that he had gotten the final score right.
It happens. Wilshere would have helped a lot, as Arteta looked very rusty out there. We played really well in the 2nd half though and should have won it. Threw the game away today. If we had been outplayed for 90 and nicked a late equalizer, a bit like last season at St. Mary's, then I'd accept a point. But after going 2-1 up it was inexcusable. Oh well, St. Mary's not an easy place to visit. Chelsea will also drop points there. Not at all like Levante or a bottom feeder in la liga, I don't know where East German is getting that from. Soton are a decent top half team and made things very difficult for City as well. So overall, not terrible to get a point here. Dont forget Xidane, how Mourinho tactically out thought Pochetino when Chelsea played them.
In the first half, Southampton where all over Chel$kie, pressing like bunch of bumble bees. Chelkie could not build up play from the back, play through the middle or get space on the wings. Then Mourinho got BA on and played a 2 striker system and went over the top of the midfield and played route-1 football and it worked.
This is what makes Mourinho so dangerous. He is not afraid to make radical changes inside games, if things are not going according to plan.
Whereas our manager does things reactively. Why not get Poldi ahead? Why not do something in that abysmal first half? I watched the first half. We were poor. Hugely impressed by Southampton's pressing game. La Liga stuff.

I agree with Phato, we have to find a way to beat City and United when they come to the emirates and avoid defeat to Chelsea when we go to the Bridge.
If we cant beat the big teams and cant cope with tactical teams that dont allow us to play our game, lets forget bout the league.

Why not do something in that abysmal first half? I watched the first half. We were poor. Hugely impressed by Southampton's pressing game. La Liga stuff. That is one of of Mourinho's strengths - to make very quick changes to a game. It can also be a weakness, however.
The thing about making radical changes during the game is that you've prepared all week for this game with a certain lineup and tactic, and worked hard to perfect it to give you the best chance in the game, and after 30 minutes of it not working you'll completely change it and switch to something you didn't practice?
I read somewhere that Chelsea's record under Mourinho is not that great when they go behind. It can be effective but it can also backfire. You only get 3 subs and you can't take them back.
As it turns out, Wenger didn't have to make radical changes to get two great goals out of his team and take the lead. We turned the game around massively. And despite it going to 2-2 we could have won it late on if it werent' for Flamini's moment of stupidity. So I don't get what your issue is with Wenger's tactics in this game.
If anything I do wonder why Gnabry started over Podolski. Gnabry didn't do much all game and I would have taken him off earlier for Ox in the 2nd half. And maybe Ox would have been a better player to start with Flamini because Arteta was clearly not fit after just 1 training session with the team.
Also, the game you mention was at Stamford bridge. When we played Soton at home we completely dominated them and didn't need to completely switch things around to win.

apparently you win the league by beating bottom feeder teams Are you being intentionally thick?
You have to consistently beat the small teams, but that doesn't mean you can allow yourself to lose all the big games. You have to split the points in those games.
In 08/09 United were poor against the big teams, but won literally every single game against the bottom 10 (bar Newcastle who on opening day). That gave them 19 wins.
But it's almost impossible to be that consistent, so you have to try to win your big games at home.
