Santander players refused to play over unpaid wages ! The home side turned up and completed their warm-up but, after Sociedad kicked off, the Racing players stood arm in arm around the centre circle, with substitutes and coaching staff lining up in solidarity on the touchline. Sociedad passed the ball between themselves in their own half for two minutes before kicking it out for a throw-in, at which point the referee signalled that the match was suspended! Ever seen something like this? |

It happens, not frequently, but it happens. From memory no season ever passed in the Brazilian league without one of these strikes. They are a symptom of poorly, irresponsibly run football administrations. One of the biggest supporters of FFP when it comes should be the players associations. Why? When teams blow their cash reserves on transfers and then get into unserviceable debt nobody gets paid. |

I saw that this morning. Good for them. It's bullshit that a team can't pay their players to the point that they have to walk off the pitch to protest to get the owners to do something. |

Credit to the Sociedad players for their support of their fellow professionals by simply kicking the ball out of play instead of into the goal. |
