Our CB pairing was made to look like a pair of amateurs today. Of course, everybody else on the squad was, too..
Though they were certainly as off as any of their teammates on the day, I would contend that they weren't as bad as you suggest. I thought Monreal looked out of sorts (I suspect Gibbs will return on Wednesday), and the midfield did nothing but throw kerosene on the fire.
JODB I thought metersacker was awful
As awful as anyone else on the day. My point was that the midfield did their mates at the back absolutely no favors.
you can't keep saying that, I thought the reason the 2 CBs have had a 'decent' record was because they get a lot of protection from the midfielders, I can't think of any CB pairing in the league that got the sort of protection those two have got, as we've seen as soon as our mid fielders fck up, those 2 crumble they've got to do better than that. The midfielders aren't without blame either Ozil and Wilshere in particular, they've developed this habit of giving the ball away in dangerous areas, it was this same two that were giving the ball away at the Etihad in December.
The midfield did their defensive mates no favors today. Yeah, I can say it again as it is entirely true. If you're attempting to use this one bit of analysis to take another piz on the team, fuck off. you did see where I said "the midfielders aren't without blame" right? The problem here is you using the midfielders as scape goat, and letting mert and kosc off.

No. Unlike you, I can can see shades of gray. I said that the duo played as badly as any of their teammates on the day. That is in no way, "letting them off."

The CB pairing were awful, goals conceded from set pieces & so many chances were the striker simply ran between the 2 CB's to latch ointo through balls

I dont think I have ever seen a defence look so open in the premier league. Kolo Troure was even making assists from defence, amazing stuff. If you take out the City game and this game, the Arsenal defence have been pretty decent and I would take one or two off nights if they can cut these type of performances out.
