I don't see how playing against a strong side on a Wednesday night before a Saturday fixture is any more taxing on a squad than playing a slightly lesser team on a Thursday before a Sunday fixture in terms of harming the Premiership chances
My thoughts, too. I can see the argument that there may be more travel involved, depending on the fixture. And there's an extra knockout round, but otherwise, it's the same. Unless, of course, the argument is fixture congestion after the beginning of March...something we haven't had because of Europe in six seasons!
& not having it [ fixture congestion] hasn't exactly enhanced your title winning credentials in these last 6 seasons has it . As E.G.G posted in another thread. Arsenal have a very strong squad with quality in almost every back up position so wouldn't it be a good thing having 2 ganmes a week . Isn't that why you build such a big squad ?
