Who's he going to replace these old players with? The Under 23's lost to Honduras 2-0 at home. |

I fail to see how one result at that level means that the cupboard is bare. Regardless of how you may rate the talent pool for the USMNT, Jurgen realizes that both for Russia 2018 and the future of US soccer, the old-guard must, for the most part, be replaced. Taking the training wheels off takes courage and patience, and US Soccer should be just as courageous and patient as their manager if the USMNT is to take their logical next step as a footballing nation. As much as Jurgen talked up the importance of the match, he got what he really wanted from it. Sure, he'd have loved to have won, but now he has a far better idea as to which players he wishes to move forward with. When we become a first tier footballing nation, then we can talk about firing the likes of Klinsmann, because there would likely be potential successors lining up. Until then, relax, and enjoy the ride. |

Deuce is at the edge of being past it, and competing in MLS ain't exactly raising his game. Beasley had a nice run reinventing himself as a fullback, but no WC for him. I wish Bradley would leave the US again to improve himself, because I can still see him offering something in a few years. Altidore is always a mixed bag, showing strength and vision, but ultimately somewhat deficient in pace and quality of finishing. Beckerman is still the most fit player in the squad. He was dominating the midfield in the latter stages of the match with his defense and ball winning. Yedlin and Wood came on late to give us a glimpse of what we could see in Russia. By the time we get to the first match of the second round of CONCACAF WC qualifying, we'll know, for the most part, who Jurgen thinks can take this side the furthest in 2018. Obviously, I trust Jurgen, and you don't. So what's your point? |

My point is he doesnt always play the best players based on his ego trips. |

No, you tried to make that point earlier when you were obviously unfamiliar with the objectives for the match. The point you were trying to make with your "In Wenger we trust?" quip was that I am somehow blindly devoted to Klinsmann, though I have given ample reasons for my willingness to be patient with his transformation of the USMNT. Yawn. |

hehe. I see a lot of hatred towards Mexican football here from the Gringo's here. Why is that? Apparently since 2000s the series has favored the U.S. 13ā6ā5 (WāLāD) Which is a great record, IMO. I think Mexicans are more talented and technical but still their record has been poor, not surprising as half the population is living in poverty and they lack good facilities to train and become better. I found this documentary "Gringos at the Gate". It talks bout how the balance of soccer power is beginning to shift in America's favor and a true soccer rivalry and how difficult has it been for Mexican fans to witness the rise of US Soccer. I will watch it. Edited by KamyFC, Oct 11 2015, 11:29 PM.

JODB, I disagree with the motives in this match. Jurgen wanted this one. And the players really wanted it. It's why so many of the old guard were brought in. It wasn't a run out to see who's still in the plans, it was a last ditch effort to qualify for the one Intl tourney we have a shot at winning. And Jurgen was outmaneuvered by his Mexican counterpart, although you could see the talent disparity. That said, I don't believe Klinsmann should be fired. However, he needs to quit getting caught between two minds heading into the qualifying cycle. |

Kamy, the Mexican/US rivalry is littered with bad blood between both players and fans. It legitimately is a case of each side hating the other. |
