Only Higuain stories has any traction in my opinion. His father came out to say things were close . Higuain wants out. He is the striker which makes most sense for Arsenal. We gooners will give Higuain all the love he wants and crave. The money he wants. And he is almost guranteed a starting spot at Arsenal. Rooney , Fellani, Suarez . All bull. Cesc........ fabregated. Lars Bendner seems to be genuine. But if we get cesc back........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will do cartwheels and backflips with my 40 year old creaking body. ! |

Great post Phato. I would still stay a bit positive for another 3 to 4 weeks. We didn't buy Cazorla until August 7th last season. |

Nice post. You ask valid questions. I said in the other post bout the stupidity of our 30 million bid to buy Suarez. I dont understand why we would bid for Suarez. That kind of bid would tell Madrid that we have 30million in cash and are desperate for a striker. This must have clearly irked Florentino Perez and by saying that Arsenal have not lodged a bid for Higuain, he mocked us for trying to outmaneuver Madrid - the so called giants of the transfer market. The point has been made by Perez that the deal for Higuain will not be made in our terms. Also lets keep in mind, that 90% of the transfer talk has been from higuains side - his father, grand father, uncle etc. the rest is predictable - from spanish media - Marca, AS etc So if we dont ultimately get Higuain, i wont be surprised. |

I'm usually one of the first people being pessismistic and not believing any of the pre-hype that AW or Gazidis throws out there about spending in the summer. I never buy a word of it. For whatever reason I've been feeling that it could be different this time cuz there's more stability with our own players this summer which could distract the club from bringing it players. Usually we're too worried about Cesc or RVP or Nasri or Song or whoever leaving. This time no big names are leaving and theoretically that should free us up to focus on adding. So far though its not happening. |

Right bout us not needing to worry loosing any of our players. I'll take this kind of a transfer window with crazy gossip, amazing 'bids' than windows where Wenger does nothing all season, we see our top players leave and our manager makes a panic buy to compensate. This is a fun transfer window. But all this fun could lead to super disappointment as our expectations is risen!

More than any other summer there's really no excuse for not signing a couple players that could step right into the starting squad. No distractions from players leaving, fresh kit deals that increase revenue, and instability at ManU, Man City, and Chelsea. So what's the fucking holdup? We should be pouncing now whole our rivals are diddling around. Wait....wait.....wait....I said I'd be patient this time. Someone pass me the Xanax to calm my ass down. |

I don't think Gazidis ever mentioned the 70m. That came from the media and AST, but correct me if I'm wrong. What Gazidis did say was that now we have the spending power to be able to compete with the top clubs without mentioning a specific amount. It is strange that he would say that but I think the club wanted to send out a statement to the fans as well as potential signings. And it worked too because now the media are giong with the story of us being a big club and coming back in contention for trophies. That's what the pundits are talking about. And if Higuain reads the papers he'll see that and say, yes I'd like to join that club. I don't think it's so hard to believe what he says since the new commercial deals have come in. I don't know where dream team gets off saying that all of the stories of bids are 100% lies. We've heard from Higuain's father/agent himself that Arsenal are interested. Several reliable journalists have reported as much. There seems to be truth in the Suarez story as well. I'm excited about the signings but what I really want is us to play exciting, attacking football when the season starts. Let's hope Wenger/Gazidis do what needs to be done for that to happen. I think its worse when he says we have the spending power to compete with the other top clubs. That almost implies that if Man City made a 50 mil offer for Player X than we should be able to compete with that bid. I'm not buying that for a second. |

treefingers higuain father said the deal was done about a month and a half ago. And about a week ago he said they now have permission to talk to arsenal and talk were at an advanced stage. so it is after the deal is done that the player and agent can now talk to the buying club and then the talks between arsenal and real reached an advanced stage. I wouldn't trust one more word from a person that makes such statements. And gazidis mentioning that we can compete with the top clubs is not a wise thing to do like jays said. He's better off saying we would strenghten the squad with super quality or world class players this summer. |
