If successful, Suarez will be a brilliant and versatile attacking player who can be position anywhere in the front 3. He will definitely contribute goals and assists in the double digits and that will go a long way towards helping us get silverware this season. Heck, RVP probably single handedly gave United the title last year! I could care less about his character issues as long as they remain in the past and I definitely feel it is a risk worth taking. With all due respect, Higuain is a good player but he is just no where near the proven quality of Suarez. In fact, for an attacking player, only Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo and Bale are ahead of him in my opinion and yes he is better than RVP who himself was not exactly a saint when we bought him! I just don't get it with people complaining about this move to acquire the guy. My only regret would be if we do not succeed.

I agree with Phato that Suarez doesn't really work perfectly as a no.9.

The problem isn't so much that he can't win long balls or hold the ball up with his strength against 2 CBs like Giroud does.

The problem is more about his style of play. He's not a striker who will run the channels and play on the offside line, stretching defences and creating space for the team.

He's more the type of player who comes deep to collect the ball and likes to be on the ball all the time.
His game is about dribbling and running at defenders, and you can't do that if you play on the offside line. And certainly not unless there are one or two players around you who can create a bit of space for you to run into.

You see Aguero playing as a lone striker and he's content with running the channels and trying to get in behind. That's how he got the goal, too. So while he's not going to be too effective with his back to goal he can create space with his running.
Suarez in this respect is a bit like Podolski.

That doesn't mean he can't adapt and play a slightly different game. But he would have to adapt. Wenger is good at improving strikers though.

And we've become so reliant on Giroud's hold up play and I like how we use him as a focal point. I like how we're playing with him. We lose that with a striker like Suarez.
And of course we already have Cazorla, Ozil who, besdies the goal scoring, can do what Suarez does.

But the plus side of that is that you have two different types of players in that position, and because they are different they can play together. Suarez can play wide or behind Giroud as well.
So one of them isn't necessarily warming the bench.
I wouldn't complain if we blew 40-50m on him. I would prefer Lewandowski or Benzema I think.

the most important thing is getting your team to win, it doesn't matter how Suarez does it as long as he improves the team, there are so many top teams who play a no 9 like Suarez and they've got no problems, some don't even play a no 9.

Thanks. I am here regularly but only contribute occasionally! Suarez was a bad miss but we made up for it with Ozil. With Liverpool doing well now I am sure that opportunity is gone forever.

If we did sign Suarez , I believe he can still lead the line for us. In a very different way. More of the RVP way.

We never lumped the ball to RVP . He could never beat the defenders in the air with his back to goal. He always comes in collects the ball from the midfield and to spread play around.

Suarez being the hard worker he is , can still run the channels if it's Poldo and Walcott behind him to finish the chances. Suarez , got the dribbling skills and the trickery to try to beat a fullback.

With Suarez as a footballer, we definitely are a better team, but we got to adapt to the different style , since we got 2 strikers of differing qualities. But Suarez as a person..........and the merry go round he will lead us every summer. I am not too sure. I will take Mesut anyday. At least we are not relying on Santi alone to open up defenses or Rosicky to stay fit.

I would love to see how Poldo redefines himself when he come back from injury . Whether does he still play on the left side or does he take the CF role. It is interesting times.

We got 3 strong players still out with at least 25 goals in them and our Samurai gets better by the day. I am actually excited to watch him swing his sword for tomorrow's game. And at least he got good ethics to learn from Giroud and replicate like for like. Giroud can also give Bendtner a bit of tips on looking good too.

I suppose who will not be frustrated to lose their place to a non shooting hedgehog or a striker more concern about the goal celebrations. Just watch the nauseating dance with Bale. I need a new pair of glasses after watching the video below. My old lens cracked into a million pieces by itself . !
