Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere, but Chamakh's move to Crystal Palace is finished. There was still some confusion as to whether it was a loan or permanent when I was following Twitter during the preseason game, but it sounds like it's a permanent, free transfer. So that's one more much needed cull from the squad. Time for reinforcements, eh Arsene???

BTW, check out Ian Holloway's quote from here:
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/421146/Ian-Holloway-slams-folly-of-Marouane-Chamakh-rejection

“Arsenal were fools not to pick him. When they did, he scored. And you can’t score goals when you’re understudy to Robin van Persie and not be picked, can you?”

Riiiight...

Only a fool would pick Chamakh over Van Persie. He wasn't bought to replace Van apersie, but to be a reserve striker in his own right. While I know he went off the boil it is churlish not to recognise that being dropped tore his form apart. Even in games where he didn't score Chamakh had an influence.

It just didn't work out.

I quite like the guy initially , though he was limited as a player. He really linked up well with our midfield. Played on the shoulder of the last defender, winning penalties, giving us a route 1 option.

But when RVP came back , it's not only his form dropped. His attitude, the choices he made, and he became from the dependable regular reserve player , to one who plays like crap from the bench. I believe there are more behind the scenes issues with Wenger too , for him to be drop so unceremoniously.

Thank you Oily hedgehog for using us much joy in the first 6 months, but just like a video game, the fun ran out . And we got to toss you aside and couldn't move you on because your value kept falling. Finally we found a guy who wanted a Sega set. We were so happy that we almost bid the buyer's hand off.

Pardon me rwmlite, no disrespect
I knew Santry was gonna find an angle to defend Chamakh who was apparently just lacking confindence. The guy was poor gabbage and I hope we don't make the same mistake again to go for cheap players in france, MC was just a flash in the pan, he couldn't even make it at West Ham, now he has downgraded to crystal palace, SNM.

I think he will do OK at Palace, unlike at West Ham there isn't a couple of even bigger target men in front of him & their leading scorer from last season suffered a severe knee injury & is still out

Thanking him for his contributions in the first 4 months of his service. Ultimately an opportunity lost for another better striker than a real financial loss. Wish him the best as long as he doesn't score against us.

He was very effective for those first 4 months. Dumb luck or not that he did as well as he did, he still made a difference at a time when we had no other options.
