The RVP situation was very different seeing that he was in the last year of his contract and we risked the chance of losing him next year for free. RVP also made it clear that he was not signing a contract extension and had basically burned all the bridges between himself and the club and fans. Its hard to criticize the club's decision to sell him to UTD at that stage. We really had no choice.
We had an option. A couple actually. We could've sold him to a club outside of England or simply not sold him at all. In the end, I bet our club thinks we won in that RVP deal since we still finished in the top 4 without him.
Apparently, according to a story in the Guardian, Utd would risk massive financial loss on Rooney rather than sell him to Chelsea even if it means he rots on the bench for 2 seasons & walks away for nothing Whether that is all just hard balling we will have to wait & see
,.. but but perspectives here Bog, by losing Rooney you risk missing out on finishing top (that would also be a hefty financial loss.) Us losing RvP had no bearing on us finishing 4th and we subsequently saw that, right? I would contend that the decision to keep Rooney is the only decision, the only one that makes sense and unfortunately it's being forced upon them by circumstances not on principle! But an unhappy player is a player who doesn't offer too much to the team & I for one am sick of Rooneys behaviour BUT do not want him sold to Chelsea unless in part ex for Ramires, even a straight swap would suit me
To swap a player for another who is more needed saves face, to sell outright loses face & Utd & the Glazers [ so they say] , thankfully are happy to call Rooneys bluff on this

True, but he has to earn his spot & win his way back into both the team & just as importantly for Rooney the fans affections . Rooney is a sulking brat, he has had only adulation & I don't think he will take it too well if , as expected, he gets some booing from the crowd on his 1st appearance back in a Utd shirt
I will be at the game in September v Crystal Palace & I hope he plays some part in it, if I feel he is giving it his all he will get my full support. If I feel he is not giving 100% I will boo him loud & long
He is payed huge sums of money to do a job, because of that fans are forced to pay huge sums to watch & the very minimum criteria expedcted has to be 100% commitment
On the Suarez saga, today in different articles I read that Suarez has, or will apologise to team mates & then I read Arsenal & Wenger haven't given up hope of signing him. Surely if Suarez is apologising he is accepting he is staying at Pool
