We sure aren't making any friends with this bid. Pardew has ripped us for the timing abd the amount we offered. Cabaye didn't even play today.
If we really piss off Alan Pardew maybe I'll consider this transfer window a success after all.
:P The statement of the week ! Maybe of the entire month !

Don't even think about it, still haven't forgiven Utd for that debacle & here we are less than a year later watching Utd desperately bidding for just about every CM in football & they had the answer right there all the time. Pogba is exactly the player Utd need right now & the stupid *%#*'s practically gave him away

So the player is worth about 16 million and we make an offer of 12 and it is "derisory", because they want 20 million. The newspapers are reporting this in very vague terms with no definitive sources and it is presented as fact/truth from the top. Nice one!

Cabaye is an intriguing one, we were looking at him before he went to Newcastle. He is a box to box continuity player rather than being a purely attacking or defending midfielder and. It has the ring of a move to deal with a poor midfield display [which was happening most of last year] and possibly a short-term fix for El-Lynchpin being missing.
" It has the ring of move to deal with a poor midfield display ".........PANIC BUY

" We were looking at him before he went to Newcastle" .......LOL, another addition to the "tracked" list

Cabaye is a good player, but IMO not really what Arsenal should be focusing on. The position he plays is probably the strongest suit for Arsenal

Almost as baffling as Utd bidding for Leighton Baines
You probably headed off to bed thinking that was an excellent troll. Honestly, I deserve a better effort than your best but here goes.

If we are thinking of only one game, specifically the Villa game, to focus us on a signing then I would agree that Cabayé is a panic buy. Especially if Newcastle secure a derisory amount like 20 million.

If we are looking for a more experienced continuity midfielder, and we were linked with Cabayé previously which I see you are hoping you can deny, then Cabayé is not a panic buy.
I simply quoted you

How else would you explain " it has the ring of move to deal with poor midfield display "

So many similarities to the panic buy saga of 2 years ago with the possible difference that this time it won't take an 8-2 mauling to get Wenger to act & he has 2 weeks as opposed to 48 hours

Funny thing is, he couldn't find any quality players before the game & was asking publicly who he should buy, surely having apparently "tracked" Cabaye he would have acted earlier if he really wanted him

When did Arsenal actually show any interest in Cabaye? I don't mean looking at him, I mean seriously enquiring , was anything going on before the shock loss to Villa?

Take it whatever way you like it. Deal with the fact that we looked at Cabaye a couple of years ago but also that Wenger sees how poor the midfield were on Saturday. Problematic? Neither one thing or another...

Pardew can stick Cabaye and the rest of his France B team up his jacksie if he thinks 20m is a suitable price. We are offering 6m more for a player who newcastle bought for 8 million and is about the same as Ramsey but slightly more experienced.

I'd take Cabaye in a second over Ramsey. Not really seeing alot of improvement from Ramsey since he's been here.

PANIC BUY!!! '

Does that sound familiar?

Cabaye is not a player we need and if we would not have lost to Villa, would we have seen this bid?

Or we just want to buy just to appease fans instead of buying right? our priority is DM and Striker and we bid for a CM/AM (where we have plenty of options anyway). Unbelievable.

Ramsey doesn't even get picked like Cabaye does at Newcastle yet his influence on games is stronger, and you should be able to recognise that just by looking at him play. Or if you want a standard measure: http://www.castrolfootball.com/rankings/rankings/player/?player_id=2494&player_filter_2%5Bteam%5D=308&player_filter_2%5Bcomp%5D=&player_filter_2%5Bnation%5D=&player_filter_2%5Bposition%5D=&player_filter_2%5Bsearch%5D=&player=9071

Lol. I made my post in the Pogba thread before having read this. I guess I was right!

He left on a free, didn't he? Did he just not want to resign? Or were there other issues?

he wanted 1st team football

IMO it was the poor handling of Scholes' comeback that was the final straw. he & then other kid getting rave reviews, Ravel Morrison, were just starting to get the odd run in Carling Cup games & Utd had a few injuries when SAF brough Scholes straight back into the 1st team despite not having played or even trained with then top team for 7 months

Scholes comeback simply opened the door for Juve to drive a wedge between Utd & Pogba & SAF was too stubborn to relent

All it would have taken would have been a very modest pay rise & a promise of 1st team football to get Pogba to sign a new contract & even if SAF went back on his promise & didn't give Pogba game time, at least they would have been in a position to sell him at a decent price, but SAF dug his heels in & now it would cost Utd around 20 million to find a replacement of his calibre
