"FYI sir, no one believes your weekly fabricated stories about your exploits on the soccer field against a bunch if professional Mexican players either."

Speak for yourself. I believe implicitly in the truth of JODB's personal match reports. It's just that, well, Mexican competition not being what it used to be, I'm not that impressed.
Slow clap... JODB, I was wrong. You have one believer, maybe even more than one. That's an accomplishment.

You might even be less impressed if you saw me crawling home after playing on Sundays looking for nothing other than Gatorade, lunch and a nap. I can't count the number of times that I have informed my significant other, in the words of Danny Glover, that "I'm too old for this shit!"

Sarcasm from 0893? Wow, the odds makers are taking a beating today.

Fight sarcasm with sarcasm!

If Ozil was from Africa, there would be cries about how games on the continent are taxing on our players then it would culminate into the time scheduling of the nations cup and what more the flight risk, etc. Of course, you all know this. But since he plays for a European country, it shouldn't be that of a big deal..
I don't know what prompted you to say this. As far as I know a lot of gooners were complaining about Ozil playing in both games despite Germany already having qualified.
And everyone always complains about the international breaks and how they are sometimes placed at completely inconvenient times (like the one just before the start of the season).

If Ozil was from Africa or Asia he'd also travel a greater distance and be gone for a longer time, you have to consider that. Of course people will complain more.
I complain when Spain play friendlies in South America, not because I hate South American countries but because Cazorla comes back exhausted and jet lagged. It's not rational but it's not driven by some inherent racism.

As for the ACN I really really wish they would switch it to every 4 years now.

And so you are! But any day you can play is a good day.

I think you're about the age I was when various structural deficiencies (sounds much better than injuries) forced my retirement from the game. I still kick it around with the kids sometimes, but I do miss playing.

It's because we all hate Africa and Africans. Duh.

Seriously, though. That's the second big swing and miss/venture into tinfoil hat territory you've done in a couple weeks there, a_h. We (at least I) have bitched about the ACN because it's (potentially) a month and a half that our players are away...DURING the season. WC qualifiers and even friendlies are over an approx. one week stretch at a time and league play is REQUIRED to stop for them.

Thanks for the clarification AH, but you submit multiple layers of speculation that make your case a bit flimsy here. Though many have bemoaned the scheduling of the ACN due to its impact on an Arsenal squad that has relied quite heavily on African players, WC qualifying is, and would be, a completely separate issue.

Of course, you know this.
Thanks for extending me a bit of respect on your second coming.

Now, can you honestly deny that for all the time you been here, you have never witnessed the sort of vitriol directed at African nations and their federations for calling 'our' players to camp?

You can't compare the two: what people said about the Ozil situation is nowhere near what was lamented for players like Gervinho, Kolo (yes, when he was still loved), Kanu, etc. Yes, I have been debating with the majority of these guys this long (not going to name names though.)

I see but then I have really come to expect this sort of commentary from you!

I don't know whether its hate or whatever, I do know the countless cries from European teams/managers and of course fans each time they have to lose a player to an African competition yet they don't come out guns blazing with the same intensity when other continents are involved.
