That's right, Chelsea. I was there. Really hot day, as I recall. I remember Mourinho strolling across the pitch by himself, looking all badass.
I also saw City play there - with Vieira - around that time. Now I remember, that match was against Inter, if I am not mistaken.
wow! yeah it was blazing! 30+ degrees C.
As i used to follow the EPL, i knew the players and i became the information guy for the crowd around me.

John Terry scored a header. Robben strutted his stuff. And then the game got over and there were stalls/hand carts outside the stadium, by Mexican guys selling Tamale's!
Interesting atmosphere, it was like back home for me :P

Then i took the CalTrain and went back to Sunnyvale!

wow! u were there, huh. Small world!

toss balloons filled with piss in them at our player's during matches in Mexico City.
LOL! Really?
its hilarious!!! :P
Yeah it happens down there in El Azteca. They throw all kinds of stuff at our players during corners. Its ridiculous. Now we had a chance to get a huge payback for all the abuse and we failed miserably.

Take it easy Jay. I'm not sure if the Mexicans are going to beat the Kiwis. Mexico just can't score these days.

Los Angeles as well.

Though one might question judging an entire base by the actions of a few idiots.

Very small.

Has to think about it...the match the following year was Inter (with Mou again and Vieira) against America again.

I believe that same year we saw Barca with Henry play Chivas up at Candlestick.

When it comes the US-Mexico rivalry, I got no time to ponder such rational thinking Joe. LOL

When we got a chance to knock them out of a World Cup then we better damn well take it. I would expect nothing less from them.

Qualification all wrapped up before you even kick off, so you're playing a meaningless game against Panama that you're losing 2-1 in extra time. With the results that were happening elsewhere, you bitter, hated rival Mexico was going to miss out altogether on qualifying. So what do you do? Well I know a 100 things that I would've done and one thing I wouldn't do.

I WOULDN'T SCORE 2 FUCKING GOALS IN THE LAST 3 MINUTES TO WIN THE FUCKING GAME AND GIVE MEXICO A CHANCE TO QUALIFY THROUGH A PLAYOFF AGAINST NEW ZEALAND!!!!!!

I am beside myself this morning. There is ZERO chance that Mexico would've even tried in the same position if the roles were reversed. I fucking hate you Klinsmann. You had one job last night in those last several minutes and that's to tell your team to just knock it around and watch and laugh as Mexico miss out.
I can't stand Mexico's team, but...

First time ever I've seen a coach vilified for winning a match.

Odd as this is, it also misses the fact the U.S. lineup was full of guys who are on the bubble for selection. If I'm one of them, I'm playing my ass off for as many minutes as I can get. Screw the "big picture", I want to be on the plane to Brazil.

And if this is true - "There is ZERO chance that Mexico would've even tried in the same position if the roles were reversed." - that makes them a pretty shitty organization. Are you really arguing that we should be equally shitty?

As a faithful footballing servant of my Uncle Sam, I am dedicated to pushing my team to victory, even if it's merely with some good vibes from the comfort of my couch. Well, my tio will probably be disappointed to hear this, but I would gladly give back both of those stoppage time goals for the privilege of sticking it to my mates (Mexicano) for the next four years.

Mexico has dodged bullets late now twice in a row, including that 85th minute bicicleta against Panama. Perhaps when it comes to putting the final nail in their WC coffin, the third time will be a charm.

Go Kiwis!

I didn't get to watch the match last night, but I see that Johansen scored. Though he was off target in his first match against Jamaica, he looked very good at times, and I'm hoping that he adds an X-factor with his game next summer.

Mexico may be the geographic "other," and large pockets of their supporters may be anywhere from disrespectful to hostile and aggressive, but I reject the notion that they would lay down at any point in a match to keep even the hated US out of the WC.

Yeah we should be as equally as shitty. I'm not gonna agrue that its fair, or moral, or the right thing to do cuz I know it's not. I would just thoroughly enjoy sticking it to their team. Fuck'em. Let them sit home and watch us in Brazil. Hopefully it still happens by losing to New Zealand.
