Giroud and Wilshere just fail to Link together there, and the whistle goes as Dortmund belt it clear.

Welcome Chilly, u missed Dortmund's pressing master class the first 30 mins.

We gradually kept the ball better and got an equalizer.

I was just about to dial up a post about the poor crossing from Gibbs and Sagna when that happened... bit of a howler by the Dortmund keeper...
Quite so, but the cross from Sagna was perfect to test his nerves and he failed.

no penalty?
It was about two feet outside the box. It was the right call. Surprised there wasn't a card though.
Hummels was actually cautioned on that play.

Pressing like Dortmund have done is hard to sustain. They literally had us congested at the edge of our box. The goal came from one of those forced errors. Let's see how Dortmund play it in the second half, I don't think that level of pressing can be sustained and I see Hummels or Subotic getting turned easily enough.

Half time report
We fought our way back into this game slowly but surely in the face of Borussia Dortmund's relentless pressing game and attacking threat.
I expected Dortmund to be tough opponents. They've got exceptional players but we have come through that difficult period.

Arsenal let Dortmund dictate the game in the first 20 minutes by sitting back and trying to soak up pressure. After their goal we were forced to push out and keep a high line. That allowed the Arsenal team to take complete control of the game. It is a huge gamble because Mert doesn't have the foot speed to play with a high line. However against a team like Dortmund, it is better to control the game than allow them dictate to us. They are just too good to allow them time and space to play. The bottom line is we miss Flamini, without him our strategy of sitting back to soak up pressure leaves us venerable.

Spot on there. Once we started to be patient and kept the ball a bit, we seemed better.

Santi to get us more composure will be a good addition.

Nice analysis by experts on our goal.

Great work by Ramsey in midfield to get that space.
Great run by Jack to take the fullback out of position
Great cross by Sagna
Great persistence by Giroud.

Goal.
