We will not win this group. That was a costly goal from the Pole. Even if we are lucky enough to finish second, our Round of 16 opponents would be 5 possibilities: Barca/Real/PSG/Bayern and Athletico Madrid. We will have NO CHANCE with the first 4 opponents. I am so fucking sick of losing to either Barca or Bayern every fucking season. Different movie but same fucking scripts from Wenger every season

I don't even want to think about next Tuesday when our kids play Chelsea. We will lose 8 - 2. Bring back the rubbish bags and cover the Emirates seats with them and save one to cover Wenger's head.

Wow we have some seriously pessimistic gooners out here. This is Champions League and having a challenging group is what's fun about this competition. Giving up before the rest of the matches are played? Maybe its time to watch something else, a different sport or something.

This season why don't we flatten out accountability. Those who call for Wenger's head in a narrow loss, even though the team bossed Dortmund in every Department for an hour should have their heads called for. Others need to quit watching arsenal games on three inch screens. Seriously, some of the armchair, sound byte punditry I've seen in the last four pages borders on farce.

Better to lose this game, than to lose a game in the league imo. Lose a league game now, and we are 1 behind and playing catch up and we need other teams to do us a favour.

At least we are all tied. Still got a chance to do something. Our fate is still in our hands. And to lose to Dormund. If it can galvanize the team to refocus , lose the overconfidence , give a good kick up Ramsey's butt, that he has become very good, but not THAT good. Go on another long run. It's a positive thing.

It's only 1 loss , it's not all doom and gloom. But then if we make it sound like the end of the world is near like after the Villa's loss , and the team buckle up , strap it on and shape up. Why not.

The difference between the two teams was the midfield. When Dortmund lost possession they showed urgency by being back in numbers. We just dawdled when we lost possession.
I think we are caught between being a pressing team and sitting back to soak up pressure. At the start of the second half we allowed them come at us and looked fairly comfortable. When they eventually scored, it came from a situation when our players were far up the pitch and then we really needed to gamble and press to prevent the break from developing.

Overall I dont think we put in a good shift defensively and part of the blame goes to Wenger. We look venerable defensively at the left back position as Dortmund full back bombed forward with no one picking him up but was not able to deliver a decent ball. That is something that had to be rectified, because their fullback Kevin Grosskreutz had at least 5 crosses where he was left unmarked but just didnt deliver a good ball. Imagine if that was a world class fullback like Alves at his prime afforded that amount of time and space. I also question why Sagna was also too far forward on the goal, we cant have both full backs bombing forward at the same time.
Dont understand how Wenger is at fault here?

He went for a win, we were at home and we were passing them off the park in the second half. Yes, we conceded a goal in a naive manner.

People would say we had failed our first major test of the season. The far more rational, and realistic view, is that we eere unfortunate to lose 2-1 to one of Europe's best teams.

We missed Flamini. Simple. His ability to shield the back four, take up crucial positions, might have prevented the two soft Dortmund goals.
One thing we learnt is that this team needs a defensive midfielder. Al this talk that pure defensive midfielders dont exist anymore is way off.

Also we need to learn how to play against teams who press like this. For 20 minutes Dortmund were a pressing machine, relentlessly hunting us in possession and denying us any room to play the passing game. If i remember even Villa played like that in our first game and we had no Flamini.

If we can get our good players back and have Flamini, am still confident we can get a result at Dortmund. All is not lost.
