Arsene Wenger; What is he good for?

The thing about the cash reserves is, we could've made it available to be spent, but if we miss out on CL then suddenly we're losing 30m and have no cash reserves to fall back on. Maybe that's why we were waiting for the commercial deals to provide us with additional income before we spent our cash reserves.

And I think we would've spent Ozil money earlier, like even last year or two years ago, had players like Hazard or Gotze decided to join us. But seeing as we couldn't hold onto our own stars let alone attract them from other clubs, we weren't able to spend the money and it sat there. Not to mention a lot of that money came from player sales. Players we'd rather have kept.

You also have to consider that Wenger doesn't like bringing in too many players at once. Last season we could've pulled a spurs and brought in 2-3 more Giroud/Podolski level players but he likes to keep as much stability as possible in the team, as our style requires a "blind understanding" between players.
So Wenger was never going to spend 100m like Spurs on 8 players. It's one way of doing things but Arsene likes to build his teams a little more slowly and likes to give young players a chance. So unless an Ozil quality player was available we weren't going to sign too many more players.

So yeah, that's my theory on why we had so much cash on hand this year and why we're suddenly spending it.

As for Wenger's performance, I've always thought that if he's given a stable squad he always gets them to improve and play great football and at least be in the fight for trophies. And the style of football we play is amazing when it clicks. As Klopp said, the best style of football you can watch.
But yeah, it's now or never for Wenger to deliver those sweet, sweet titles to Arsenal.
