Both were equally guilty! Nastacic (assumed Hart stayed put) didn't look up to check on his goalie and Hart misread the play.

It was fun for a bystander like me.
1) I see Jose Piss another manager and it's all about him again.
2) Torres scored a silly goal.
3) Hart another boo boo.
4) A fantastic goal by Aguero
5) To see how shit Cliche actually is. If we still had Ashley Cole, maybe we would have won the title , even after Eduardo's leg break. Because our most fair weathered Capi will not throw a fit because of Clichy.

Equally guilty?

Although I think Nastasic could've done better, this would be a non-situation if Hart had just stayed where he was supposed to be. It was a simple header back to the keeper and City could build from the back again.

I don't blame Nastasic for having eyes only for the ball. He has to deal with it properly, and he's rightly expecting his keeper to be on the line to receive a back-pass or header.

I think Hart thought the ball would bounce into the box and he'd be able to grab it. He misread it. So he comes out to the edge of the box and now doesn't know what to do. Nastasic tries to save the situation by trying to head the ball out of play but couldn't get enough power on it.

I'd say it's mostly Hart's fault. And pretty sure this means City are getting a Willy in January.

It is funny that Mourinho went to his tried and trusted route one and most of these continental defenders are not comfortable dealing with these long balls. As agregious as what Hart did, we have seen it several times this season when our young Pole has done the same thing. As long as Hart gave the defender a shout, he has no issue to answer for the miscommunication. I also find it hard to understand why a defender would head the ball without seeing who he was heading the ball towards.

On second viewing, that was entirely Harts fault. That was probably one of the worst piece of goalkeeping I have ever seen. How can you completely misjudge a nothing ball and come out that far out of your box?

I agree with phato #2 here. Props for the self-correction. What was Hart smoking?

Was listening to the Guardian's Football Weekly Podcast at lunch and someone mentioned a theory that's circulating that Hart gets bored back there and tries to do too much because of it.

But, indeed, what is Hart smoking? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGu14vZ6nqY

I think Hart is getting a little too much stick here. He probably was wrong to get out of his line but once he did, the defender has to leave the ball to allow the goalkeeper deal with the situation. That is where trust comes in, even if the goalie makes a mistake, the defender has to give him a chance to handle the situation. If the defender decides not to trust the goalkeeper, he has to make sure he completely deals with the situation which in this case would be to put the ball out for a corner kick with a far more assertive header.
There are a few variables, the one that convinces me best is that Hart did shout for the ball but timidly. The other one is that Nastastic just didn't trust Hart, given recent performances. Let's see if Pellegrini has had enough of England's no 1.
