I still like Lukaku, if Jose would sell Mata (and he said that the door is open) then he'd sure as hell sell Lukaku. |

Not that I dislike him, but has anyone watched Lukaku in the games since December 1st. He's look well off the pace, and if Giroud has missed chances in that time then he's missed just as many. |

It's too bad Bendtner was injured during his goal. Aside from his one terrible performance against Chel$ea in the CoC, he's done exactly what a backup striker is supposed to do. I wonder if some (one in particular) on here will admit that they were wrong about him. Or maybe we should beat the Dzeko dead horse some more... |

What were the odds coming into the season that any of us would be lamenting the loss of Bendtner? Bendtner has been asked to play the "Giroud role" in the Arsenal system, and for the most part, he's done his job. I firmly believe that if Wenger is to get the most out of Podolski, there must be this type of player leading the line. Ironically, his first major contribution to the cause may have cost Bendtner his job if Arsenal bring in another striker to spell Giroud. Edited by JustOneDennisBergkamp, Jan 2 2014, 12:14 PM.

I will offer this as my humble opinion to any transfer dealings... there is zero... and I mean.... ZERO.... chance any of our EPL or CL rivals sell/loan us anyone in January. Baca would not sell us David Villa for $$$$!! and sold him to Athletico for $ a few months later..... When you talk about the potential money to be made in winning the title or the cup... no offer for reinforcements could trump that. |

The chance to pick up the kind of impact striker who would improve the overall quality of our team passed last summer. The lack of available candidates as well as the time it would take even a very good one to settle in both argue against being able to do anything major this month. The best remaining option is to solidify the quality we already have. A reasonable backup, in other words. Even there, candidates are thin on the ground and probably should come from the EPL. Not many teams will want to deal with us, and we will not break our general rule of avoiding seller's market prices, so I'm anticipating a quiet window. Edited by dsch15, Jan 2 2014, 12:32 PM.

Believe me, if we make a striker signing this window it will either be a relative unknown with lots of potential (Batshuiyi) or a stopgap, loan-type signing (Berbatov, Morata). |

Wenger's behavior at press conferences and interviews has been interesting lately. He has that patented smirk on his face everytime transfers come up. And he's talking about how he's looking for a special player instead of the usual talk of how much he hates the january window. I feel like he's working on something behind the scenes. |

The Sun is really pushing the Berbatov to Arsenal rumour, there are also rumours that we are in for Remy from Castle as well. Berbatov would not be a bad signing, in terms of technical ability, he is better than Giroud and he's hold up play is very good. However he won't work as hard as Giroud and probably won't have as much aerial presence. One thing we all realized with the game yesterday when we played Podolski upfront is that while Giroud has had his goal droughts, he actually leads the line quite well, much better than Podolski for sure. That is because he moves well off the ball, he wins most of the aerial balls, he holds up the ball well and in doing these things he creates space for his team mates, he's link up play is actually good. I doubt Wenger is thinking right now that he needs to sign a striker who will relegate Giroud to the bench, he probably wants someone who would allow him to rotate his squad better because Giroud has played 18 of our 20 league games so far this season and maybe a lack of rest has contributed to his dip in form. |
