Jailbreak a XBox 360

The Xbox 360 already has 500MB space built-in, so that is more than enough to store game saves, updates, etc.

You don't need a hard drive to play games. Even if you do get a hard drive you still need the discs to start the game, so kind of pointless aside from faster load times. I don't really notice it much faster anyways.

Like I said you can always buy a hard drive later on if you really need it. If I buy one now it will go over $300, hard drives aren't cheap unfortunately.

Alright if you say so, I have an extra 160GB if ever needed though. But I don't know if can be easily replace like the PS3. As long as it work and can play backup game all is good. The Hard Drive can be later since it not so important.

I heard some game updates required a lot of Gibabytes since XBox can't use Blu-Ray so it have to install and rely on Hard Drive space since it don't fit on a DVD. But I know nothing about XBox 360. So I guess XBox can't play game from External Hard Drive like PS3 then?

There's no games that requires to install gigabytes of data or updates, otherwise every 360 would come with large hard drive but they are only optional. Yeah compared to Blu-ray DVD9 disc doesn't hold much, but somehow game developers have found ways to fit everything inside the disc. For huge games like FFXIII there is obviously going to split into separate discs, but no there is no large update or install required for games.

Okay, just so you understand how games and hard drive works on 360:
All games can be fully installed and ripped on the hard drive, BUT you will still need the disc to start the game. After you start the game, the game will run fully from hard drive and not disc.
So yes you can play games from hard drive, but you still need the game disc to start.
This is a standard feature of 360 implemented by Microsoft so people won't pirate games to the hd. But when you get it modded it won't eliminate this requirement. All modding basically does is allow the DVD drive to read burnt discs. Everything else is left the same.

Also, 360 can take any usb external drive and it will act the same as internal hard drive (much like the PS3). So you can use any usb external hard drive to install games, store save data, updates, etc.

But an official internal hd just looks better and it goes with the console:

I heard you can open the thing up and swap the drive too with 2.5" SATA.

Oh and the guy shipped the console already, so it should be here pretty soon (hopefully by Saturday). I asked him if he could flash the console before shipping and he agreed for a price, so now all there is to do is just wait a couple days and you should get your beautiful modded Xbox 360!

He's also sending 5 free 360 games too so that's cool, but I believe they are just backup copies of games.

Will give Khen the console when it gets here.

So when you say it required a DVD to play the game, does it work like PS3? It can be any games or it have to be that game to play that game? If it done this way Hard Drive is pointless. And man XBox 360 use DVD9 Double Layer, wow DVD9 Disc are expensive as hell.

Also you let that guy Flash the XBox 360. Are you sure he an do it or know how to do it? Don't want it to get ruin if he doesn't know what he is doing. But if he does, then that's good save an extra step.

So how much is left from the $300? Any extra left to buy him an Hard Drive? Even 40GB is fine, 500MB is so nasty think he will not like it. It fill up with updates and DLC, and Save files way too fast.

No it doesn't work like the PS3, it has to be the exact disc of the game you want to play. That's why I said hard drive is useless other than loading games faster and maybe storing large DLC.

He knows how to jtag consoles (require advancing soldering and stuff), that alone tells you that he knows what he's doing. He also flashed for other users as well and no complaints. So I think it's safe to say it should work as intended.

Around $30. There is no such thing as 40GB hard drive; only 20GB, 60GB, 120GB and 250GB. 20GB is a little too small to be worth it, 60GB is around $40.00. I can buy him the 20GB only. If you give me $10 more I can get the 60GB.

You said you had a spare 160GB? Can you use that? Does it just need an external closure, cause you can buy those for like $5.00 on eBay.

Problem is I don't know if XBox 360 will except the Hard Drive or not. I know how to take it out and put it in. But XBox required brand like Western Digital and format a certein ways. Don't think it as easy as PS3. That's why I hate Microsoft shit.

How much is the 20GB then?

Okay, forget about using another hard drive or external hard drive. I've just read that you can get banned from Xbox Live if you use third party or non-Microsoft hard drives.

So have to get OFFICIAL Microsoft brand hard drive to use. Problem is where to get one, on eBay people can easily say it's official but end up being third party knock off shit.

I will try to find a official 20GB 360 hard drive on eBay though. It costs around $25 for one.

How do I burn XBox 360 Games? The DVD Media have to be DVD Double Layer? Also you say it have to be certain DVD Player to burn, does any Double Layer Burner DVD would work or I have to buy one that specifically work? And lastly, what Software I use to burn?

Man this XBox 360 is more complicated then I thought, think Khen will not like it since PS3 is so much easier.

You only need certain DVD player to rip games from official disc, if you download games from the internet then you can use any DVD burner and just burn the .dvd file with ImgBurn at 2.4x. Yes you need DVD9 dual layered Verbatim disc.

I don't think it's more complicated than PS3, only ripping games from disc requires more effort since you have to buy specific DVD player to read and rip 360 games on PC. But once you download a game, just uncompress, burn it with ImgBurn at 2.4x then insert in 360 then play.

If you want the DVD drive to rip games from disc you have to buy the SH-D163B DVD drive. It's a SATA drive that reads 360 discs only (not burn). So you hook it up, make iso file out of the 360 disc then use DVD burner to burn the iso. It's only $35.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-SH-D163B-Kreon-Drive-/220783218451?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item3367b48f13

I will post instructions on how to do everything tomorrow when the 360 arrives.

Man the XBox 360 is disappointing. There is already some scratch on the side panel, but that isn't too bad. What bad is that there is a crack near the edge of the XBox 360. Think this fag must have drop it or something, that's why he is selling it. The Loading on the DVD is so damn annoying, it make a spin tickling sound none stop and it is a bit loud. This is why I hate buying used stuff from eBay. They always lied about stuff being Mint and Like New.

And can XBox use External Drive for game? I know it still need the Disc, but this will cut down loading time and access to the DVD because it making constant tickling sound because the DVD spin none stop. I don't care much for getting bann on XBox live and crap since they charge money to be on anyway.

Though the Slim XBox 360 is an improvement but right now I think the Sony PS3 beat it by far and I'm glad I stick to Sony PS3. Just some reason here why Sony PS3 is better.

1.) Hard Drive can be replace with any 2.5m Laptop Hard Drive. Sony PS3 will except it and automaticly format it to work. Unlike XBox 360 where you need to buy their official shit or it will not format correctly and not work correctly.

2.) Free Online Mode vs gay XBox where you need pay premium $69.99 per year.

3.) Can use any External Hard Drive ( 1TB Max )

4.) PS3 have better graphic. Just try Fable III on XBox 360 and it look like shit.

5.) Copy and Play game via Hard Drive on the fly. No loud loading Disc, no need for DVD9 Media, no need for buying a special discontinue DVD-Rom Drive to copy game.

6.) Game take 45 minutes to copy, XBox 360 take literally 2 hours.

7.) Blu - Ray Support versus DVD-ROM crap on XBox 360.

8.) Less noisy then XBox 360, though the slim version is less noisy.

9.) A whole lot easier to mod and play backup games then XBox 360.

10.) It not made by gay Bill Gates who never done Console before. Sony been around and making console for the last 10 years.

11.) Control is more comfortable unlike the reverse analog buttons on the XBox 360 and their huge ugly ass controller.

12.) Auto Battery Charge vs XBox 360 heavy and bulky and use 2 Double A Battery. EWW!!

13.) Every single game fit on one single disc versus XBox 360 where large game fit multiple disc.

14.) Have to use their old generation XBox 360 FAT versus Playstation Slim the latest and greatest. ( This of course just personal references since maybe later there be easier mod for XBox 360 Slim. )

15.) Playstation 3 support 1TB where XBox only support 250GB max, put 1TB in and firmware will reduce the Hard Drive to 250GB and may not even work at all.

Wow, I think you are being too harsh. Three major things I want to point out though:

#1. The DVD drive noises are completely normal. All fat Xbox 360 drives makes those noises. I went through 3 DVD drives and all of them make the exact same noise. I even look up on YouTube and people have the same noises and say it's normal. It's just the way the DVD drive works (latest BenQ and Lite On drives anyways). So no, it's not broken or anything like that. It actually works like brand new. This is why I stated a couple times it's loud compared to PS3, but it is not noticeable enough to really be bothered about. When you have the game running at decent volume it will drown out all the noise.

#2. Yes installing a hdd and installing games onto it makes games run without any DVD noises. The noise doesn't bother me though when you have the game running at decent volume cause you can't hear it anymore.

DO NOT use external hard drive, you seriously don't want to get banned. Even if you don't play online with the 360 if the console gets banned in the end the value of it will drop TREMENDOUSLY. So don't get a hard drive other than official Microsoft brand internal hdd.

#3. The crack is probably due to shipping damage, since the guy packed it in such a confined box. At least it's on the faceplate, you can easily replace the faceplate with brand new one for like $8.00 on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260763738350&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT The faceplate is made to be easily customer swappable, so you can also find a ton of stylized faceplates to customize the 360.

#4. I test the console thoroughly and don't notice anything being wrong with it. The rest of the case looks brand new.

Okay, I don't like one console over the other, but I will tell you what I think about some of the things in the list you make:
Quote:

2.) Free Online Mode vs gay XBox where you need pay premium $69.99 per year.
Well, you can't even PLAY online on PS3 where you can play online on Xbox Live without ever getting banned. PSN keeps patching their damn online service and not mention their online service is incredibly cheaply constructed and run, reason why it's free to use. Xbox Live has better p2p online play with less lag and a lot better features like cross game chatting, and streaming Netflix on 360 is a ton better on 360. Right now the whole PSN service has been brought down by hackers, everybody's personal information and credit cards have been leaked to the public, and no one (not even a legit non-modded PS3) can go online on PSN anymore (Sony deserved it though). Also, Microsoft is giving away one free month Xbox Live Gold membership to play online when you sign up for the first time. The online is perhaps the biggest reason why 360 beats PS3, since a lot of games will be way more interactive and fun when you play them online.

Oh yeah, this also means 360 has access to ALL DLC. PS3 you are stuck without any DLC since you can't use the Playstation Store. Sucks for a lot of games!
Quote:

4.) PS3 have better graphic. Just try Fable III on XBox 360 and it look like shit.
It will depend on the game. Fable III is supposed to be semi-cartoonish so the graphics aren't going to look realistic. Most multi-platform games will look a bit better on the 360, just try something like Resident Evil 5 or Dynasty Warriors 7 and compare.
Quote:

5.) Copy and Play game via Hard Drive on the fly. No loud loading Disc, no need for DVD9 Media, no need for buying a special discontinue DVD-Rom Drive to copy game.
I agree, but you still have all these steps in order to play games on PS3 with Multiman including patching. Not to mention some games requiring external or internal only, and some don't even work at all right now like the newest released games (such as Portal 2). All 360 games released so far all works, there are no game that does not work.
Quote:

10.) It not made by gay Bill Gates who never done Console before. Sony been around and making console for the last 10 years.
Sony also makes consoles that fails the most. Every PS2 I bought and used suddenly develop problems and stopped working altogether. And do you even remember how your PS3 broke in the first place? Because Sony issued out a firmware patch that overheated the PS3 and cause the Blu-ray drive to fail. Now PSN is brought down by hackers and everybody's personal information and credit cards has been leaked. Epic fail!
Quote:

11.) Control is more comfortable unlike the reverse analog buttons on the XBox 360 and their huge ugly ass controller.
I have no problem with the controller, to me it feels comfortable. Is PS3 controller better? Yes. But I heard the 360 controller is better for games such as first person shooters due to the position of analog sticks and shape of the trigger buttons.
Quote:

Though the Slim XBox 360 is an improvement but right now I think the Sony PS3 beat it by far and I'm glad I stick to Sony PS3.
The only improvement the Slim Xbox 360 has is it being less noisy, but I also heard you can still hear noises when the DVD is spinning.

I don't think "PS3 beat it by far". I think they are both about even, with PS3 being a bit better. But there are many features PS3 lacks that 360 has, I already list these a bunch of times. But who cares when you own both consoles, you are getting the best of both worlds. Personally I wouldn't get rid of a 360 for a PS3 and vice versa, they both their uses and features.

Man you should make a complains and get some comprehension or some money back or something because this moron try to save shipping money by squeezing an XBox 360 in a small USPS Flat Rate Box. Luckily only the Faceplate is only crack, but who know what else is broken or damaged inside. Think the noise issue at least for Khen is very noticeable is because he play his XBox right next to the monitor.

And the reason PSN is down because Bill Gate hired some hacker to attack PSN. PSN isn't great but atleast it is free, I never use it before and probably never will now due to it be detectable so it isn't a big deal.

I think the ideas of playing on DVD is actually not bad, if only the noise isn't so loud and the constant Disc spinning, and DVD9 media is very expensive. I just prefer picking a game and play with a nice interface, not Eject and Put in the DVD. Also ripping on the PS3 with Multi Man is so fast and easy I just prefer it more. I think Multi Man is pretty awesome whoever created it. I haven't run into a problem with Patching yet, I copy tons of PS3 game and none of it need patching yet. The only problem I run into lately is that certain game required Internal and it a pain because my Internal Drive is small.

I know one thing for sure XBox 360 beat PS3. More games and more RPG game. But soon PS3 will have just as much.

The 360 can withstand a lot of damage, the only problem people can have with it is overheating issues. But newest Jasper chipset already fixes this. I doubt a tiny crack will cause anything to break inside. If it does, the console has 90 days free warranty.

If you are that bothered about the crack I can go buy or ask him for a new faceplate, along with 20GB hdd to install games and DLC. Make sure you state which hd size you want though since I don't want to buy it and end up having to return it and stuff.

The noise, yeah I think you are making a big deal out of it. The noise isn't that bad. I think you are too used to playing PS3 running everything off hard drive. If you try running through disc only I bet you'll get some DVD spinning noises too (though of course not as bad as 360).

Well the games have arrived. They are backup copies btw and not real versions of the games. Still, it's better than nothing since a few of these games are rare to find on the internet.
  1. Tenchu Z
  2. Super Street Fighter IV
  3. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (2 Discs)
  4. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  5. Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition
Still waiting for the new faceplate, which should come by the end of this week.
