I am taking my kids on vacation until New Year and most likely a lot of you won't be online as much for next week and a half, so why don't we start speculating. 1. I do hope that BFS developers are on vacation too, so I am guessing we wouldn't see garnet until January 2nd 2. Reading wikipedia - this is a tough one to guess! Nothing obvious from chemical composition (and BFS doesn't seem to pay much attention to chemistry anyway). This gemstone comes in many colors, even worse - it changes color depending on the light! A chameleon dragon, anyone? Without sneak preview and the description - I am not sure what to suggest. "The gemstone varieties occur in shades of green, red, yellow, and orange." Plant, fire, lightning and - flower?[R4E]title update[/R4E] Edited by Sylvandyr, Jan 2 2013, 12:58 PM.

Before everything, there was nothing. And no one complained about it.

@Wapatango: Is it normal I can't see it without a Goigle account(which I don't have)? |

NO! I pass! It was kind of you to tell me... Well to be honest I was done but I'd rather know when I do something stupid. At least that got me to check to make sure I wasn't gonna do it again. |

@ Liber I have never used google docs before. Apparently there is this little button you have to click to share it. Oops. You should be able to see it now. Sorry. Thanks for letting me know. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArSHiWBWAowndG9CcGdDcFZ1cWxfQjZfa2lIRFdPdlE#gid=0 |

I don't mind at all. I'm not sure what you did though. You turned some of the columns into rows on the bottom? In the last week of January, after any extra Hybrids have been added, it should be easy enough to set up 4 documents, one that has a metal element, one that caps with a water/air element, one that caps with a lightning element and one that caps with cold. Then we'll be good to go for any eventuality. |

@ Fletch I did three main things. 1.) I made the dragons that contain the elements we need (in this case all water & air hybrids) be the columns so that it wouldn't extend off the side of the page. (As I said, I have always found it a pain to have to scroll sideways.) 2.) I also sorted the dragons differently. I have dragons that contain only plant earth and fire first. Then below that I added the cold element hybrids of those elements, then did the same for lightning, then water, then air. This serves two purposes. First, it causes the triangle to be at the bottom instead of the top so that most of the combos we need to try are visible at first glance. Second, it makes it easy to get rid of the dragons you don't need when we know what level it becomes available. If amethyst is available at level 11, we can quickly delete the bottom rows that contain water & air. 3.) I moved the list of dragons to the bottom to minimize the amount of scrolling needed. Working with spreadsheets is a huge part of my job. The changes I made are things that I have learned to do to maximize efficiency and minimize headaches for myself. However, I know that everyone's brain processes and organizes differently, so they may not be helpful changes for you. Feel free to reject them if they aren't beneficial. I did realize that I hadn't organized the columns correctly so I did make some more changes to what I did. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArSHiWBWAowndG9CcGdDcFZ1cWxfQjZfa2lIRFdPdlE#gid=0 |

Genius. So yes, columns of the necessary elements. We'll make 4 of those spreadsheets and use the one that has the right level. Very nice work. EDIT: Level 17 Dragon Spreadsheet - 379 possible combinations https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsQlB8i5pltpdHdYSklyNS1td0FxTnlUQ3Z3QlpwUHc Level 14 Dragon Spreadsheet - 290 possible combinations https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArSHiWBWAowndG9CcGdDcFZ1cWxfQjZfa2lIRFdPdlE#gid=0 Level 11 Dragon Spreadsheet - 88 possible combinations https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsQlB8i5pltpdGtOcHE2QUdLOVM4ZDRtVHNlRGdrWlE Level 9 Dragon Spreadsheet - Only 28 combos, so probably not likely. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsQlB8i5pltpdHNnNlJ3WEU2azNNd25QQ0FNRWVBaXc We'll just need to add rows and columns as new hybrids are released. Great job Fletch and wapatango! On the level 11 spreadsheet you should remove Sonic in column B. Since Sonic has air as an element it isn't available for level 11. Agreed that a level 9 Gem dragon isn't too likely but good to be prepared. Also, like on the level 17 spreadsheet, I agree that it is safe to rule out any previously used combos. Blacking out those squares in the grid won't help much but every little bit...right? Level 11 - Cactus/Crystal - Peridot, Cactus/Firefly - Topaz and Crystal/Lichen - Emerald Level 14 - Mud/Lava - Opal, Rain/Mountain - Saphire, Seaweed/Snow - Pearl, Smoke/Obsidian - Garnet and Swamp/Poison - Turquoise |

@cubw1nz: Blacking previously used combos will help a lot. I tried the Opal combo three days ago. After 3hrs of breeding non-stop, you lose your sense of what's been done or not. |

Looks great fletch! It's good to know that we are already ready for February. I think it's funny that I don't even have a garnet yet, and I'm already preparing for amethyst. I fixed the one I did so that the Level 14 triangle matched the others. I also blacked out the garnet combo. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArSHiWBWAowndG9CcGdDcFZ1cWxfQjZfa2lIRFdPdlE#gid=0 Edited by wapatango, Jan 4 2013, 05:40 PM.

Thanks for the comments, especially pointing out Sonic. My bad there. Was going to get to the previous gem combos later, but thanks for the reminder. Quick question folks, do all of the breeding combos for the gem dragons contain the element of their colour? ie Plant for the green dragons, fire for the red dragons, etc? |

Updated spreadsheets for the next time, with rows and columns to be added as new hybrids are released. Between Wapatango and myself, we have two different orders. Is one easier to read or follow? Would alphabetical be better? Edited by Fletch_smf, Jan 5 2013, 06:13 AM.

To answer my own question: Cactus/Crystal - Peridot (Green - contains Plant, Yellow underbelly for Lightning?) Cactus/Firefly - Topaz (Blue - No Water or Air, Red Horns and tail for Fire, Pale yellow underbelly for Lightning?) Chrome/Scorch - Ruby (Red - contains Fire) Crystal/Lichen - Emerald (Green - contains Plant, Yellow underbelly for Lightning?) Mud/Lava - Opal (Deep Navy/Black - contains Water, but it's not that sort of blue. Pale yellow underbelly again for Lightning?) Rain/Mountain - Sapphire (Blue - contains Water, Pale blue underbelly - Air?) Seaweed/Snow - Pearl (White - contains Cold?) Smoke/Obsidian - Garnet (Red - contains Fire) Swamp/Poison - Turquoise (Blue - contains Water, Red underbelly - contains Fire) Does this mean anything? Can we use it guess an element in the parents? Who knows? A quick search of Amethysts shows me they are Purple, so if it's a Level 14 Dragon it might have Air in it. It also says it's purple due to Iron impurities, so if it's Level 17 we should start with those combos. 26 days to go. lol |
