I am taking my kids on vacation until New Year and most likely a lot of you won't be online as much for next week and a half, so why don't we start speculating. 1. I do hope that BFS developers are on vacation too, so I am guessing we wouldn't see garnet until January 2nd 2. Reading wikipedia - this is a tough one to guess! Nothing obvious from chemical composition (and BFS doesn't seem to pay much attention to chemistry anyway). This gemstone comes in many colors, even worse - it changes color depending on the light! A chameleon dragon, anyone? Without sneak preview and the description - I am not sure what to suggest. "The gemstone varieties occur in shades of green, red, yellow, and orange." Plant, fire, lightning and - flower?[R4E]title update[/R4E] Edited by Sylvandyr, Jan 2 2013, 12:58 PM.

Okay so no metal and it must contain either water or air. |

My guess is blazing and scorch. Garnet definitely has many similaritis to scorch as a baby. |

Looks like the color options are Lava, Scorch, Firefly, and Blazing... Drat, its head kinda looks like the Scoria but no metal allowed. Smoke is a possible pair-up to include Wind (if Blazing isn't used)... Isn't Sandstorm not viable because it's an opposite?

If that is a clue perhaps it points to Lava since pumice is formed from a type of lava? And pumice is definitely an abrasive rock. Edited by MrsR, Jan 1 2013, 01:35 PM.

Here's the description for the decoration, the Cloisonne Runestone: "This beautiful decoration was crafted by a collaboration of Tolson the Red and Tehgood the Abrasive. Known to work together in tenuous situations, some people credit the power of their combined magics with making the floating islands in all of DragonVale a possibility." They sure are pushing "Abrasive" |

Looking at wikipedia, the garnet is abrasive, so maybe that is why they are using that word so much. It may not be a clue for the parents but just them using the actual properties of the gem to come up with their description. My second guess for the garnet would be mud & scorch. It's tail is similar to the mud dragon's tail. However, that would give us four elements, which is something BFS hasn't done for a while. |

Hmm, abrasive could just be a reference to it being used for smoothing wood etc (my daughter recently used it at high school in woodwork... I had never heard of garnet paper before, just sandpaper!). It does get you thinking though. And Tehgood LOL |

Okay, seeing the adult now, it's definitely flightless, so I'm guessing that at least one parent is flightless. That points to the combo including water instead of air as the element that pushed it to level 14. Mud + Scorch could work, maybe Mud + Lava? Wait, I think that was the Sapphire combo lol

Yeah, looking at the adult, I think mud & scorch does make more sense than blazing. Mud & lava was not the sapphire combo that was mountain and rain. Mud & lava is a panlong combo. |

Based on "a collaboration of Tolson the Red and Tehgood the Abrasive" I had to try Sandstorm + Fire. Not surprisingly, no luck. But I had to try it. ![]() I'll start testing Mud + Scorch now if no one else is... |

Apparently when you race it the Garnet dragon gives off fire and bubbles, so it almost definitely has fire and water elements in it. |

Oh no, Mud and Lava was the Opal Dragon combo! My bad. Anyway, Mud x Scorch seems to be the best choice for now.
