I thought that it would be nicer to have a separate topic about magic. So here you can discuss about everything you want as long as it is about magic ;)

Below I will include what we know about collecting magic and some strategy ideas. We will include more info as we discover it and have time to include it. :)

Hiding info so we don't have to scroll as much while still being able to access the info.

Have you all been doing the swap of gems for magic everyday? I have but I'm beginning to wonder if 30 Dark and 30 Light a day is worth 10 gems.
I haven't. It takes less than five minutes to buy and sell 30 shrubs. Not worth 10 gems for me. But perhaps I have too much free time on my hands :P
^ good points ;)

Yeah. The gem trade isn't worth it. I'm just using my gems to upgrade stuff around my park that I'm going to upgrade eventually anyways... not much magic from that, but atleast my gems don't go to waste in any way.

In my opinion the gem trade is worth it. I get more than 10 gems a day, I have nothing to spend them on. And getting 3000 magic is a lot of work, which I have only gotten twice right now...

I am now using a combined strategy. I have the new island cleared, put 15 normal plant habitats on it (with plant hybrids in it). Collect the coins from the habitats and make shrubberies in the mean time.

You have nothing to spend them on YET. But who knows what BFS has up their sleeves next? Best to stockpile.
Sure 3,000 a day is hard. But that doesn't mean that getting 1% of that is hard. 30 gems is just 1% of the max total. I can make 30 gems in 2-3 minutes breeding plants.

And LOL! I was about to use ur exact strategy. Just waiting for my brand new island to clear...

I'm only up to the large light and dark reward habitat D| (I'm so behind I've not been very active on this game so I totally missed the announcement.... gah)

2% it is 60 magic that I am getting for 10 gems. I have 600-700 gems, I think that is enough for the future updates, and if it isn't I will get more than 10 daily, so I will catch up quickly anyway.

I've been at it everyday and I'm in the same spot. You'll probably pass me!

actually you drive a hard bargain. I guess I'm just speaking with the mind of someone who has under 100 gems, and still a couple hundred gems-worth of upgrades to go.

2% of your daily magic, spending less than 2% of your gems... makes a ton of sense.

Yeah, I am like essiw. I think it is a great deal. I have over 1300 gems at the moment. I don't mind spending 10 a day for a little extra magic. Although I am impatient, and would love to constantly speed up breedings, I have learned to be somewhat wise with my gem use. I might as well use part of my stash to gain bigger rewards.

By the way, the option to buy things with real money disappears if you have too much magic waiting to cast. For instance, I have over 1000 magic right now that I haven't cast. There is no option to buy 1000 magic or 500. However, as soon as i cast it, those options will reappear...unless I am too close to my max for the day. Just thought someone might be interested in knowing that.

@Big Z. I don't know what "drive a hard bargain" means (I am not english), google isn't helping me understanding it either :P

But indeed if I had only 100 gems and needed to upgrade things I wouldn't have bothered using them for magic :)

@Wapa, wow you have a lot of gems :O , did you buy some or did you collect them all like I did?

I've decided that the habitat upgrades are the better bonus, assuming we cannot upgrade the reward habitats after the event since they don't count towards our max habitats. My main park switched to light to get the 5600 upgrade which I have another day to achieve, and then I'm switching back to work on the 9999 dark goal. I'll see where I go from there depending on the Tines progress.

My magic production has dropped way off, I forget to race and visit friends half the time, and Bush harvesting is practically nonexistent. Life is so rude, getting in the way of my game playing.

Drive a hard bargain is a phrase I've heard used most when a person convinces another to spend more than they intended to. It is a compliment to your business sense.

@essiw I've never spent a dime on the game. However, my dad did accidentally buy $10 worth of gems in my account one time when he meant to do it for my mom. (Not sure how that happened.) So 275 of them were from a purchase, and the rest I have saved, which is why 1,275 was my goal number to reach instead of 1,000. Hating the look of the EBI helps, as does the fact that I have not yet purchased the last two extra habitats. I also have three habitats I never raised to giant. All other gem upgrades have been done. I have been playing since January 2012, so I've had lots of time to save up. My hoard looks small compared to the many people on my friend list with multiple thousands.

Light is surging ahead...sort of. Light now has its fourth block. Dark still has no claw on its third.

Don't know how if it is already known, but when visiting friend parks you can see the whole ring with all segments. So there are ten segments plus obe gem ting at the end.

Hopefully the size isn't proportianal to the amount of magic needed for the segment, otherwise it's going to be difficult to get more/all rewards
