Can anyone explain the new breeding rules to me?

Hi All, I was looking at the breeding sandbox and realized that 2 of the same dragon is no longer a guarantee! it looks like common dragons now have a 50% chance, and rare and epics are 5/10%? Is this right? can someone explain it succinctly? I searched the forum but don't see any threads... thanks!

You've got it right as far as anyone knows!

The latest breeding rule change means that you may or may not get the same dragon. If it helps, think of you breeding the elements together and not the dragons themselves. A rainbow dragon would count as all elements by nature so breeding two of those together could give you anything.

Hi Pgoon - I will try to explain.

You are correct that Same Dragon + Same Dragon is NO LONGER a guarantee.

So, if you are breeding epics and limiteds together, they now encompass the elements that made them. For example, if you breed a Bronze Treasure Dragon with an Electrum Treasure Dragon, the elements now present are Metal, Lightning and Earth. So, you can get, Coppers, Metallics, Scorias, Irons, Quakes, Crystals, Bronze or Electrum dragons from that combination.

If you are breeding let's say 2 Zombies together - the elements present are Metal, Air and Plant. So you can get Chrome, Meteor, Pollen, Willow or another Zombie.

One more example with an expired limited - Bloom Dragon - if you are breeding 2 Blooms together, yes you can still get another one, but you can also get Lichens, Evergreens, Cactus, Ash, Storms and Hail dragons.

Hope this helps. Does anyone else have anything to add?

yes that is helpful - thanks!!! :-) what about a 2nd limited epic that has expired - could I use lunar eclipse with a solstice for a chance at a 2nd Lunar eclipse even after expiration?

This change really irritates me - not sure if I am the only one... my whole goal in playing was to get a 'breeding pair' of each dragon, now there is not really any point to that!! I feel like everything I had been trying to do is meaningless now - LOL

Yes, you can. But again, the elements used to breed those dragons are present - Air, Fire, Earth, Cold. So, you can get whatever dragons come of those elements or a Solstice or a Lunar.

Be assured, you are not the only one annoyed by these breeding changes.

There is still a bit of testing to do, and we've all been busy earning magic so haven't had much time to do it, but I think you still need two limited hybrids to have a chance of breeding a 3rd. Though it's possible breeding two different limiteds might give you a chance, i.e. Bloom + Reindeer might give you a chance of either of those.

I had a slot free in my Olympus habitat, so 3 tries of goly x goly got me 2 crystals and a goly, and solar eclipse x2 got me another on the first try, so although the odds aren't 100%, they appear to be workable.
