Tallying fails so far...
1 Flower(Flower+Storm)
1 Ash (Flower+Storm)
1 Fog (Blazing+Mud)
1 Lava (Blazing+Mud)
1 in breeding (Blazing+Mud) --- 9:29:57 probably a Salamander
I think they meant a tally of limited fails. I think.
I wanted to say fails I got trying for Limiteds. If I get a limited fail, I'll put it in my Limited tally. Sorry for any confusion.

Retried with Blazing/Mud after leveling them to 12, and got a Terradiem or Equinox on my 4th try!

what is the best strategy here - I need lots of stuff but really want a 2nd century, 2nd leap year, and 2 apocalypse... should I try a rainbow LYD combo or should I be more specific and target each dragon separately using the correct elements? any advice?

Apocalypse and LYD are epics, so the best strategy would be to ignore them. You can just breed them with Ouroboros/Apocalypse and Rainbow/LYD when the event is over and you have some downtime.

I wouldn't use rainbow LYD, that will really make things hard since it can give you everything. The shortest average fail time for century according to the sandbox already gives you a shot at LYD. (Century and poison.) The same is true when trying for apocalypse. Ash and mine is listed as having shortest fails and gives you a shot at LYD. I am not sure what other dragons you want, but adding in extra metal dragons can be pretty dangerous, so I would avoid that. Adding light and dark can also be hard, but at least it doesn't add in epic fails. If you get those you most want, there are many other broad combo options like bloom and panlong that don't add as many potential long fails.

One dragon I needed... My 24 hour from Mud/Blazing was an Equinox!
Here's my list of Limiteds now...
Celtic (Flower/Storm)
Equinox(Blazing/Mud; fail)

thank you wapa and unregistered! big help! especially the combo suggestions wapa - thanks! problem with apocalypse is I dot have any yet, so cant breed for that unless I get it now... didn't realize I could get LYD with rainbow and LYD or I would have tried that one months ago!

yes! wapa you rock - two tries with ash/mine got me an apocalypse... :-)

now that I know I can get my second one later, I will keep working on century...

there are lots of other limiteds I need , but nothing I am dying for that won't come around 1nce a year... I guess the best strategy is to target each limited directly until you get it, then move to the next, vs trying for multiple limiteds at once... yah?

OK - here is what I have gotten so far - using gems to speed because I have a lot saved for this

1 Apocalypse
1 terradiem
1 seasonal (don't need)
1 leap year
1 celtic
2 cotton (needed 1 egg)
1 ghost (don't need)
1 Blue Moon (don't need, but will use for earning)

Not exactly. In my opinion, if it doesn't add too much to the average fail time, it is better to double or triple up. Since many limiteds share common elements, I like to try to work on more than one at a time so I have a better shot at getting something. For instance, I plan to use blazing and terradiem to try for solstice, equinox, and terradiem. If I don't get terradiem before getting the other two, I will use flower and terradiem to work on bouquet, rose, and terradiem together. Otherwise, I will use flower and fog/rain to work on rose and bouquet.

I am so glad I was able to help, and if you have any other dragons you decide you want to knock out now, let me know if you could use help planning combos. Congrats on getting your apocalypse so quickly.

For help planning, the dragons that have no return date this coming year are: both rifts, apocalypse, century, LYD, blue moon, panlong, paper, and cotton. I believe that is all of them.

Whoa. I just looked at the decorations section in the market and noticed that all the limited decorations are back as well, not just the dragons. Time to bling up my islands. B-)

It's a shame that the Storage Tower is so small though. Even fully upgraded you only have 35 slots, and there are 38 limited decorations... I don't get why we can't just have unlimited inventory space like in certain other games of this ilk.

That was no problem for me. I cleared out an island by moving the stuff out, then buying all the limited decorations. I have only 5 things in my Storage Tower, so I really sorta don't use it. Despite the Gift not returning, the Snow Globe is in the market.
But anyone can do anything with their parks so you can decorate any way you want.

Here are all my Limiteds at the moment (no order)
Before BeB:
Cotton
Summer
Opal
Topaz
Turquoise
Zombie
During BeB:
Celtic
Equinox

So I will keep limited fails that are duplicates.
I am currently trying for Panlong with both lv12 Blazing and Mud (trying for Solstice and Terradiem and Leap Year)
