A train. He had been here before, a long time ago. “This is the beginning of a revolution,” they said. When engineers discovered laic mist, the engines started being designed, and the world changed. Railways crossed continents, cities lit up at night, guns and golems became sophisticated. Within a few years, the Pyromancers were forgotten, as individual cities and towns gained the technology to defend themselves. Rades sat in that train, four years ago, escaping those he had once served. He remembered being happier back then. The world seemed full of possibilities. That optimism was gone. Rades walked through the train. A bloodbath. A few dozen dead and Rades knew the blade. A train robbery was in progress. Their revolvers made them feel safe. The world had forgotten about the Pyromancers, but the Pyromancers hadn’t let go of the world quite yet. Rades went to the conductor booth. There stood himself, a few years younger, roasting the body of a vagabond. A pile of bodies lay in Rades’ wake. The vagabond’s gun was still smoking. Rades winced and grabbed his left shoulder with his right hand. The blood flowed freely. The first bullet wound of the new world. It wouldn’t be the last. Rades woke up in the infirmary, healing from the last match. He was laying on his chest so that the skin and muscle in his back could be regrown. The next match was only a day away. He was going to be relieved in a few hours. He would have to spend the night practicing his swordsmanship. Adewolf was not likely to be a pushover. His plan here was the same as it was back on the train: kill him with fire. Edited by Rades, Dec 9 2012, 05:09 PM.
