(Apologies who were waiting on this. I need to get back into the habit of rping here.)

The ALX Airport was as busy as ever when the flight from the States landed and taxied to its gate. As the passengers disembarked and headed to baggage claim, however, there was a person that broke away and headed straight for the exit. Carrying nothing but a backpack and a carry-on suitcase, the boy headed out of the terminal. Moving his messy brown hair out of the way as he looked at the early evening sky, the boy hailed a taxi and got in quickly once one had pulled over. "The Residential District," he told the driver as he sat down in the back seat, giving a sigh of exhaustion. The flight from the States had been a long one. "Where exactly?" asked the driver, obviously confused by his vague instructions. "The south-eastern sector. Anywhere's fine," he replied in a tired tone and the cab took off.

The airport itself was out a ways from the rest of the city. It was a little farther inland off the coast and surrounded on two sides by mountain ranges and rolling hills on the other two. Instead of having the relatively larger suburban housing developments placed around the outside of the urban areas, they were all in a section of the city called the Residential District. This was where most of the city's permanent residents lived. Unless they already lived in the city, William didn't think that he would see any other masters living around there as the taxi pulled up to a corner and let him out. Fortunately, it wasn't too far away from where he had to be.

Strolling down the sidewalk, checking house numbers as he went, William finally stumbled on a small townhouse on the corner that didn't have any lights on inside, unlike many of the other surrounding houses. The owners of the house were currently renting the house. It was lucky for him that he had found it and had called them up, paying in advance to rent the house for a month. That should be long enough to stick around for the war and then some, should he come out of it alive. Finding the key under the doormat, William turned the lock and opened the front door to the house. It was small and cozy, but it was exactly what he needed.

After having successfully checked out the house, William had but one thing left to do, and he made his way down the creaky stairs into the dark basement. All in all, the basement was the creepiest place in the entire house. Not having been finished like the rest of the house, William walked across the concrete floor and stepped into the one ray of moonlight that shone in from a window well. All in all, it was perfect for summoning a servant, away from the eyes of others.

It didn't take long for William to lay out the summoning circle. Other than having studied it enough to largely memorize it, he had the book right next to him as he drew out the circle on the floor with molten candle wax. Although some of the runes were rather intricate, he was able to complete the circle in a decent amount of time. Stepping back from the circle and the ray of moonlight that shone down on it, William stayed still and silent for a short moment as he prepared himself mentally for the summoning.
"I hereby declare."
As he continue to speak, the once dull gray circle in the floor lit up with a crimson light that flooded the room. The mark on his left hand was also coming alive as he opened his circuits and poured prana into the mark and circle.
"Thou shalt come under my command, and thy sword shalt control my fate."
"Abiding by the summons of the Holy Grail, it thou accedest to this will, this reason, answer my call."
As he continued to pour his prana into the circle, the light that emanated from the seal brightened, now flooding out of the window well and becoming visible above ground for anyone who was still awake at that hour of the night to see.
"I hereby swear, I represent all that is good in the eternal world. I am the disposer of all evil in the eternal world."
"Thee, the seven days clad in the Divine Trinity, come forth from the circle of constraint, Guardian of the Heavens!"
At that critical point in the summoning, William squinted as the mark on his hand also shone back in his face with the same crimson glare as the circle before him as the light in the room peaked.
"Accedest to me, and my fate shalt become thy sword!"

A Divine Legacy
Act One

The Crimson Blade
11:40P.M.

------------------------------------------------

"I hereby declare."

It was time. The voice she had awaited finally was calling to her, and she could not resist answering it. Although, how should she reply? She knew not the voice of reason that drove this summoner, this "master" to seek her aid. She knew not whether this soul was a righteous Zealot who sought only the peace of mind of scriptured words which guided his everyday life. Or whether this soul was a chaotic one, full of bloody lust for the carving, for the black sacrament. She could not deny herself this chance, though. Death or Glory, either way, she would fight.

"Thou shalt come under my command, and thy sword shalt control my fate."

A certain power started to tug her figure from this world- from the tundra she had crafted from her memories of her homeland. She couldn't remember how long it had taken her to form the snowy plane, only that time was immeasurable in this place. This place of the holy, lost, and damned. This "Throne of Heroes". She would be morose to part with this place, but she knew that even if she won or lost, she would return here once again, to dwell in this place forevermore.

"Abiding by the summons of the Holy Grail, it thou accedest to this will, this reason, answer my call."

The plane dissappeared, and all she could lay her eyes on was darkness. The girl was happy, yet inclined to be somewhat nervous. The world she was being called back to would probably be different in many ways; she had no idea what spectacle would await her. Hva skal jeg finne? Despite being nervous she felt no need to retract herself from this. This was what fate had planned for her; not even the gods could argue that.

"I hereby swear, I represent all that is good in the eternal world. I am the disposer of all evil in the eternal world."

She could... "feel". It was hard to describe, as she couldn't yet sense anything, but she could feel the air. She could feel the heat of it, the soft brush of it. Much to warm a place. Then she could feel the ground, she was standing somewhere, but in the pictch black's place came a blinding light. It almost could be described like the gates to Valhalla, only it was of a much less divine decor.

"Thee, the seven days clad in the Divine Trinity, come forth from the circle of constraint, Guardian of the Heavens!"

Weight. Breath. Strength. Weakness. All of these feelings and more came back to her as she felt her body. It was as it had been when she was fighting the valkyrie. Her blood burned coursing through her veins once again, and after so seemingly long a time, she felt life. She had forgotten what it was to be alive in the plane of ice she had dwelled in, and remembering it made her want to grasp her blade and leap onto the battlefield again. There was no danger here, however, so she'd have to refrain. Information on the present began to pour into her head.

"Accedest to me, and my fate shalt become thy sword!"

With these words, she was solidated in this world, and as the light began to fade, slowly, she opened her eyes. The Crimson of her clothing was only less striking than the crimson color her hues bore. Framed by blond bangs, and tailed by a identically cascade of hair, she would have been regarded in her day as one of the fairest, if fierce-looking shield-maidens to bless that land. The steel she wore only covered a few parts of her body; her hands, lower legs, and upper chest; but that did not matter. To rely to heavily on the strength of one's armor is to admit the weakness of one's sword-arm. Such a thing in her day was among the greatest dishonors.

The luminescence of the summoning circle gone, she was all that remained in the circle. The place she had been seemed to be the bottom-most floor of a home, dug into the earth. A "basement", as she knew? Did she? She studied the boy before her. He didn't seem like much to her. He did not have the build of a warrior, and in fact seemed quite scrawny. No doubt, he was perhaps more well-versed in the arts of magic, rather than of the blade. Despite that, she gave a small smile. "Servant Saber. I have answered the call of the Holy Grail." She paused a moment before her question, letting her words sink in.

"Are you, boy, my master?"

William was dazzled for a moment by the final flash from the summoning circle, and his eyes took a moment to adjust back to the darkness of the basement. Even after he could see though, he blinked a couple times to make sure he was really seeing what he was seeing. Before him, where the summoning circle had once been, stood what appeared to be a young woman, looking even younger than himself. Clad in a spotless armor and dashing crimson garments, he finally came to her eyes. Those dashing crimson eyes that seemed to be taking in every little detail of him as the woman seemed to be observing him as well. For a good moment, he couldn't help but be captivated by the woman that was apparently the servant that he had summoned, apparently a shield maiden, or at least something along those lines.

"Servant Saber. I have answered the call of the Holy Grail." Those were the first words that William heard the girl speak. He wasn't entirely sure how to address her as he knew nothing about her as of now. "Are you, boy, my master?" She got right to the heart of the matter, not bothering with any idle chit-chat. Something that, for the moment, was probably good. As much as William had prepared himself for this, he had still be caught of guard a bit when actually meeting a heroic spirit face to face. Never the less, she had opened up first and asked him if he was her master, so a response was needed.

"Yeah, that's me," said William finally after the short rather awkward moment that he had found himself speechless. "Welcome to the twenty-first century, Miss Saber." He couldn't help but put a slight emphasis on 'Miss' when he spoke. When he thought of the Saber class, a class of swordsmen, he immediately came up with thoughts of rugged men in suits of armor with deep voices that would sit around a round table drinking wine and laughing before the battle the next day. Maybe in there somewhere was a figure along the lines of the girl that had been brought forth by the Grail, but it wouldn't have been his first conclusion and he was still getting his head around it. Still, the dark and gloomy basement wasn't really the best place to greet someone. "My name's William, William Gray," he said before taking a step back toward the stairs that lead up to the main floor. Despite it being late at night, the arrival of his servant had William awake and alert, and his voice didn't sound tired either. "C'mon, I'll show you around."

The boy in front of her didn't seem all too fazed by her demeanor or attitude, though it took him a few seconds to even respond. In fact, his lack of response to her hidden insult made her curious. Were people of this age used to being addressed as such, or did he just not care? Any man she'd addressed like that in her own time would have taken up his blade at the comment. There was a distinct difference between a "boy" and a "man."

However, this... person, seemed to be on neither end. From the first impression he gave her... he was strong in some sense. She knew not how it was, but there was something in him. Well, that was what she could gather with his first words. Potential was there, but whether it would be tapped into was another story.

"William Gray..." She let the name sink in a little, commiting the foreign syllables to memory. It would be essential for her to be able to regard him by something other than "master". She probably would've just called him "boy" otherwise, but that was more a personal preference.

"Let us go, then." The dim of the room was particularly unpleasant; even annoying, after the absoluteness of that dark place. She wanted to seem the light yet again, to feel its radiance. Not dwell further in the shadows. She stepped after him as he ascended the stairs, feeling a rising relief, right as she reached the top of them.

To this world, she had returned.

The first room that Saber would lay eyes on once up the stairs was, in fact, a well-lit room that was the living room of the house. There was a table with a sofa and two chairs around it. Even though the house looked small from the outside, it was surprisingly spacious on the inside, the first floor having a decent-sized living room, dining room, and kitchen along with a closet by the front door.

Arriving in the kitchen, William absentmindedly opened the refrigerator before he remembered something important. "Well, that's a downer," he mumbled before turning back toward Saber, a look of mild embarrassment on his face as the door to the empty fridge closed behind him. "Well, seeing as I just got here myself, I haven't stocked up on any food yet," he said sheepishly. "I'll go out tomorrow morning after the stores open up again and grab some stuff." It was annoying, but he didn't have any ideas about going out master hunting on an empty stomach, so they'd have to stay put for the night. Besides, now that he was starting to calm down again after the summoning, he was losing his alertness as well. Tonight wasn't a good night to start this whole Grail War business.

Bringing his attention back to Saber, an important question arose in his mind. "By the way, you introduced yourself earlier only as Saber, the name of your class as a Servant. Although from what I gather, calling you by your class name is meant to prevent other masters from discovering your identity, is Saber still fine off the battlefield, or would you prefer a different name instead?" Sure, names were things that other people gave you, but if they were going to be effectively living together, he felt like it was at least important to know how to address the girl standing before him.

Fraeya frowned at her "master"'s lack of preparation, somewhat in disdain, and somewhat in amusement. So humans could store food in a device as such? To her, the temperature of such a thing would be comfortable. Speaking of which, the climate in this place was too warm for her tastes. Before she even thought to give him a response, the elegant armor she wore disappeared, as well as a good portion of the red dress. IT was more like she was wrapped scarcely in the crimson cloth now, but her own temperature became bearable. She would have to fight in this weather? It was preposterous.

"You wish to know my name?"

She raised a brow at him amusedly, smirking slightly. At least he didn't fear her like she expected would be the case. It made her want to tease and test him, but she refrained. It wouldn't be good to have her "master" look upon her with contempt when they only just got acquainted. "You'll learn in time. For now, just refer to me as you wish." She gave a small chuckle. "Even make your own name for me if it suits you. It's not my name that matters."

Fraeya strode lightly around until she found a window, which she peaked out to locate the moon. It had been a long time since she had been able to see it, and it was slightly disappointing that frost did not edge the sky like it had in her homeland. However, it was enough to cool her down and get her focused. Turning back to her master, William as he had said, she continued smirking at him. "If it wouldn't be to your displeasure, I would like to go observe the battleground while there are hardly any... unwanted eyes awake. Naturally, I shan't engage any other servants without your approval, and I won't lead any of them back here in my outing. However, I'd like to hear whether you disprove or approve."

William stopped mid-thought as Saber seemed to down-dress before his eyes. That and the smirk she showed almost made it seemed like she was messing with him. He wasn't sure if such a thing was welcome or not at the moment, but he found it someone amusing regardless. He was a little bit annoyed though that she wouldn't tell him who she was though, which is what he had meant by his earlier question. He figured knowing the true identity of his own servant was important, as it could possibly give him hints or her strengths, and possible weaknesses to look out for.

He followed Saber around to the living room where she located a window that had a decent view of the moon. For a moment, he couldn't help but look on in admiration as the girl gazed at the moon for a good long moment. As she started to look back though, he blinked and gave his head a quick and hardly noticeable shake. When Saber asked him if she could go out though, he gave it a moment of serious thought. There were both merits and dangers to letting her go. If she went out, they could learn more about the area along with the possibility of discovering the locations of the other masters, maybe even learning something about their servants. On the other hand, if Saber got into a fight, he didn't know yet how strong a fighter she was. He didn't want to lose his servant after just getting to meet her.

Finally, with a slight sigh, William looked back up at Saber. "Sure, go for it," he said to her. "Just make sure not to get in over your head. I'd hate to have to fight the next battle myself if you get messed up by one of the other servants." He said the last part with a hint of humor. After having seemed to be messing with him a bit, he was interested in how Saber reacted to a joke as well.

His sarcasm made Fraeya smile, and at the same time, an urge to prove herself then and there flamed up. She resisted action, however, and only replied in words. Bold and confident. "I am Saber, strongest of the classes. I can handle any tricks or toys that are thrown my way." With that, she opened the window and left from it. He probably wasn't even able to follow the movements, and if the first was true, he definitely wouldn't have been able to see which way she went.

The primal instincts she had had before were let loose, and she ran as fast as she could, taking in the environment as she passed it. Humanity had made incredible advances in technology, and the place... the "city" as it was, reflected that. It was nothing like the small village she grew up in, or the holds of the Warlords of her time. It was grandouise.

She would seem like a crimson shadow at this time of night, undiscernable to all but those eyes which belonged to her foes. She did not fear that possibility though; in fact, she welcomed it. She was forced to release herself with such a method as running; clashing against another's blade would be much more satisfying. She would welcome any who wished with her blade, and be back to her master before morning. At this rate, she wouldn't take even an hour before she'd be back.

So she hoped that a challenger would show their face...

(( If you'd like to end the thread with your next post, that'd probably be best. I'm gonna see if I can find someone who would want to lightly skirmish with Fraeya, but nothing serious right now. Just anticipating a fight. ))
