Zepia pushed against the heavy door as he entered the house. It was dark and silent. The place he called "home" for some time now was rather huge, but it was not luxurious at all. It was not like he cared anyway, he just came there to sleep or eat on some occasions when he did not feel like going to a restaurant. He turned on the light and and placed a packet on the table in the middle of the room. It was a very important delivery, so important that he went to the post office himself to pick it up. He just left it there in the living room, which was big already by itself, but the lack of any furniture other than the table and a couch made it look even bigger. He went for the kitchen first, it seemes that he did not eat anything that day. He ate in silence, it was one of those frozen meals and he did not seem like he was enjoying it, he ate simply because he thought that it was necessary to at least eat something, now that he skipped all regular meals that day. Zepia was eating fast, as if in a hurry. His nervous behavior was indeed justified. It had all to do with the small box, still lying alone on the table. It was a key, a key for the event he was prepering for a long time now. Not only that, but the time and effort he invested into the obtaining of the object that filled the inside of the packet was impressive as well, if he did not have any friends in The Eltnam family, getting his hands on something like that might have been impossbile. He finished his meal and stood up immediately, not bothering to clean the table or to return anything to it's rightful place. While his actions and current image would suggest that he was under great pressure or even scared of something, that was not the case. In truth he was excited, something like a little boy who is about to open up a christmas present. If everything would go fine (something he was sure of) he would draw closer to his dream, his final destination as a magus. And even though he would not like to confess it and just tried to block it out, he was also worried to some extent. It was because of the situation he was in, up to that point he could dream about it and imagine it, there everything would be perfect and it would go along with his plan, but here in reality he could not be sure of it, not only if he would acomplishe his goal, but also if he would be statisfied with what he gets from it. Still he was determined to do it no matter what. The silience was getting on his nevrves by now, so he strated humming. With that he picked up the box and made his way to the basement. The door was hidden by a simple illusion spell, it had would not do any good against magi who activly searched for the entrance, but it was rather a safety messure against curious civilians. He made his way down the stairs. They were well lit and not dark like the rest of the house. The room that awaited him at the end of the stairs was enormus. Unlike the living room it had not the feeling of emptiness, it was full of bookshelves, artifacts, ritual equipment and other objects, of which all could be indentified as items connected to magecraft. It also had some extravagant furniture in it as well as a big chandelier. Unlike the rest of the house it was not for pratcicaly use only, it was also made that one could feel well while being there. It could be said that it was Zepia's personal collection. It the middle of the large room was a circle, crimson red in color. It found it's place on that floor more than a week ago. Zepia had prepared all a long time ago and now the last thing that was needed was in his hands. "Well then..." he said as he put the packet on the table and started opening it with a very gentle and careful motion as if he was holding a living thing. Out of the box came, an object warped into bright blue cloth. As Zepia untied it slowly it's form became clear, it looked like the part of a weapon, and while it was probably old it did not look like time had any effect on it, the only noticeable damage on it was the point on which the part broke off, from the original weapon. It was small, barely bigger than Zepai's finger. One could say that it's laughable to expect that something like that could be used in a ritual, especially in a ritual of these proportions. But Zepia was sure, that something as a part of the weapon, something that accompanied it's user during his whole life would be enough for the summoning process. He decided not to lose any more time, and placed the favord object in the middle of the circle. He took a deep breath and stpped in front of the circle. Stretching out his arm he started the chant to change his life: "Silver and iron to the origin. Gem and the archduke of contracts to the cornerstone. The ancestor is my great master Schweinorg." The second he finished the sentence, a raging wind entered the room and the circle began to glow, it was like a storm. While Zepia surely was a little bit surprised, he wasn't afraid at all, even more, a smile appeared on his face. "The alighted wind becomes a wall. The gates in the four directions close, coming from the crown, the three-forked road that leads to the kingdom circulate." "Shut. Shut. Shut. Shut. Shut." "Repeat every five times." "Simply, shatter once filled." He continues without fear, the wind getting stronger and stronger, and the light of the circle blinding him. "――――I announce." " Your self is under me, my fate is in your sword." "In accordance with the resort of the Holy Grail, if you abide by this feeling, this reason, then answer." The strom stablized and Zepia could barely notice it, but the light was getting brighter, and he could feel a stabbing pain in his right hand, but he knew it was a good sign. "Here is my oath. I am the one who becomes all the good of the world of the dead, I am the one who lays out all the evil of the world of the dead." "You, seven heavens clad in three words of power, arrive from the ring of deterrence, O keeper of the balance ―――!" As he finished the pain in his hand stopped, and the light became so strong that he thought the he will lose his eye sight, but it did not matter, he was filled with joy. When the room cleared of light and Zepia was able to recognize the world around him again, an unexpected sight awaited him... Edited by ArcherGilgamesh, Jul 1 2012, 12:48 AM.

Within the summoning circle an immense amount of mana began to flood the area, and it grew increasingly brighter. This amount of mana was far beyond what any magus would be able to control from the modern era. It was the power of the Grail System which could summon forth this much power. All at once there was a sudden burst of wind, and then the light flashed extremely brightly before disappearing completely. Anyone who stared directly into the light would've probably been unable to see straight for a while. Inside of the circle now stood a woman in a purple and dark colored dress, with a large polearm over her shoulder. Anyone who gazed upon her would know that she wasn't natural. She simply did not look like anyone from this era. She appeared as some sort of noble or aristocrat from the past. She seemed to suddenly realize what had happened and where she was. She understood she was summoned for the Grail War, and she knew it had been ages since her death, though it felt not too long ago. She sighed, thinking about how her end had been miserable, but then she smiled widely, realizing she now had a chance to live again. She looked to the man who summoned her with a smile. She understood that he was her "master." A term she would never accept for anyone. No one had the right to be her master. "You must be the one who summoned me. I am of the Lancer class. Now that I've been summoned to fight with you, I shall be your ser... your master. You shall address me as your master. Or perhaps you can just refer to me as your queen or highness." Anyone who had heard her speak would immediately realize that she was full of herself. Although probably for good reason, as she appeared like royalty to begin with. She scanned around the room for a moment looking quite disappointed. She would have preferred to have been summoned somewhere a bit more grandiose. Her clear disappointment was obvious, even if the reason may not be. The woman walked closer to the man. Despite being an epic hero, she was fairly short, standing only a mere 5'4", not exactly what you would expect. Compared to her halberd which was six feet in length, she seemed even smaller. "How rude of me. I have not introduced myself to you, have I?" Her wide smile reappeared suddenly. It was clear she felt her name was something praiseworthy and legendary before she even announced her identity. "I am Charlotte Bismarck, known to many as the Princess of Greed." Normally a servant wouldn't introduce themself to their master right away, but she had no concerns. Infact a master might be worried that she wouldn't fear letting her identity known to opponents just as quickly. "Let it be known that the fact you've summoned me has assured absolute victory for you." Her arrogant smile flashed once more. Charlotte decided to allow everything to sink in for her master, so he could begin to praise her, which she was certain anyone sane mortal would begin to do, at the mere mention of her name. Zepia's smile disappeared and he stood there with a rather dumb expression on his face. When he finished the summoning, something that he did not expect was standing there. It was a girl, a short one at that too, needless to say she did not look like the person he awaited in that room. Zepia recognized the weapon, but the hands holding it and the body those hands belonged to were not part of Zepia's mental image of his Servant. Then she spoke: "You must be the one who summoned me. I am of the Lancer class. Now that I've been summoned to fight with you, I shall be your ser... your master. You shall address me as your master. Or perhaps you call just call refer to me as your queen or highness." Now that he Servant said something things should have been made clear... but Zepia just lost himself deeper into confusion with the last sentence. And on top of all things he was staring at her face. She was someone Zepia would consider beautiful, and he didn't know where he could look at such a moment anyway, so he just kept staring. "How rude of me. I have not introduced myself to you, have I?" By the time she finished she was closer to him, but Zepia stood there determined, he knew that a Servant would not harm his Master... or at least he hoped so. But now his eyes filled with hope as the next sentence should set everything straight. "I am Charlotte Bismarck, known to many as the Princess of Greed." Now, he was not too familiar with the name, but he was sure he read it somewhere. He did not say anything and just let her continue. "Let it be known that the fact you've summoned me has assured absolute victory for you." With that she finished, it did not seem like she's going to say anything more, so Zepia decided to clear some things himself. First he wanted to adress the very first thing she said. "Umm... well i suppose i could call you Queen, as long as you do as you're told and as long as you serve me in this war, i'm fine with it" He knew that the next thing he says could end very bad for him, as he already could make up a fragment of his Serv... "Queen's" personality. "But now i ask of you, are you my Servant?" He takes a deep breath and continues. "Are you Servant of the Lancer class, the wielder of Shaelfir?" Now, it did not matter much to Zepia as her last line was good enough for him. But he had a habit, he was not happy with good results, he was happy with results that he wanted. And this situation was certianly not what he wanted, but in a specail case like the Holy Grail War he was more than happy with the "good result". Now he that he was satisfied with the Servant he got, he just wait for an answer to why did he not get the Servant he wanted. Edited by ArcherGilgamesh, Jul 1 2012, 01:43 AM.

"Umm... well i suppose i could call you Queen, as long as you do as you're told and as long as you serve me in this war, i'm fine with it" Charlotte nodded in approval at first, but then started to noticibly frown as soon as he mentioning being told what to do. She didn't interpret however, and allowed him to continue speaking. "But now i ask of you, are you my Servant?" "Are you Servant of the Lancer class, the wielder of Shaelfir?" Charlotte sighed in annoyance once more, and then held out her halberd. "This is Shaelfir, of course. I already mentioned that I was of the Lancer class, and I do not like to repeat myself. She glared at him coldly for only a moment before returning back to how she was before, and continued. "Also, I believe I mentioned this already, but I'm the master around here. You can be my servant. Though I know you sustain me in this world with your prana, so I owe you for this. In return I shall obtain the Holy Grail, which you may make whatever wish it is you have from it. Charlotte put her halberd back over her shoulder. She was slightly impressed that he had known the weapon by name, but it did seem like he thought something was wrong. She didn't think he had anything to be dissatisfied of, she had already assured their victory as soon as she arrived. She shrugged to herself, without even saying anything out loud. This might've seemed confusing to other people, though. "I'll allow you to serve as my adviser for the time being, until we obtain the Grail. If I enjoy your presence, perhaps I'll keep you around afterwards as well. She glanced around the room another time, before asking the inevitable question. "This isn't where we're staying is it? This is slightly ... way below my standards." |

While it did seem like everything was going fine, it wasn't hard to notice the annoyed look on her face or the bad mood in her voice. Zepia wasn't sure how to react to that, so he just kep he mouth shut for now. In return I shall obtain the Holy Grail, which you may make whatever wish it is you have from it." He wasn't sure if he should be happy or mad (not that it would bring him anything) to have such an agressive Servant. "I'll allow you to serve as my adviser for the time being, until we obtain the Grail. If I enjoy your presence, perhaps I'll keep you around afterwards as well." What? She's gonna keep him like some kind of pet? Those were the first thought to come to his mind and it even made him rise a eyebrow a little bit, but he skipped over it, because he surely didn't want to be at bad terms with his Servant. "This isn't where we're staying is it? This is slightly ... way below my standards." Now that she finished he came closer. "I see... sorry that i made you repeat yourself, it's just that when i decided on a Servant and got the right object for it, i had already imagined what he will be like." Zepia looked like he relaxed and was fine with the situation as it was right now. "I know that our information on history can be inaccurate and that The Grail can mess with it as well, but i could have never guessed that the great and old king, who fell in a battle for his country was a... girl." Now that he setteled with that matter (even though the name was still a mystery and how could she be "that king") he continued. But perhaps the error could be tracked dow to Zepia's fast processing brain. He had finished all research about his future Servant in 20 minutes, while doing that he blocked out all details that had not to do with him, including persons related to the king. "Ahhh... before i forget, you gave me your name, yet you don't know mine." "My name is Zepia of the Skairos family." he said as he stretched his arm for a handshake, while putting on a warm smile, both were things he rarely done, so he feared that his "smile" might look unnatural. At the same time sweat rolled down his face as right now he was scared of denail. "This is my workshop as a mgaus and we won't be satying here." He made a short pause, as if wanting to give her hope and then continued. "I wanted to show you the house, but as it seems that you are not happy with this room, showing you the rest would be an insult i assume." "I guess I'll just get some money from my family and get us into some fancy hotel or something like that." Edited by ArcherGilgamesh, Jul 1 2012, 04:23 AM.

At the same time sweat rolled down his face as right now he was scared of denial. Charlotte reached her hand out to accept his. This wasn't exactly something Charlotte herself would normally do, but she understood it was very common in the current era, from the knowledge she was given by the Grail System. She returned his smile, thinking that this meant that they would get along as she had suggested. "This is my workshop as a magus and we won't be staying here. I wanted to show you the house, but as it seems that you are not happy with this room, showing you the rest would be an insult i assume. I guess I'll just get some money from my family and get us into some fancy hotel or something like that." "Well ... from what you've said, I now see why you seemed slightly off in seeing me show up. Hmph ... to think I would be summoned when you meant for him. However, this is in your favor. I succeeded where he failed, and I've been given a second chance. You intended to summon King Bismarck, no? The man who perished in war, valiantly defending his kingdom?" Charlotte gave a wide smile, as though preparing to reveal something amazing. She had already pretty much given enough clues to have come to it by now, but she didn't worry about such minor details. "I'm the daughter of that king. I inherited his halberd, and defeated the nations who fell him. You should be honored, and feel most lucky to have summoned me in his stead. She gave off an extremely confident smile, putting her other hand on her waist, in a very arrogant seeming pose. She had already seemed full of herself, but she had just openly declared herself superior to her father, a man suitable to be a servant just like her. "Also, I would be grateful if you could acquire the hotel as soon as possible. Or perhaps you could simply purchase a castle? Allow me to decorate it, though." One of Charlotte's greatest obsessions, architecture, and the way it's decorated. She was immensely obsessed with art and beauty, and could accept nothing below a certain .. VERY HIGH standard. She already was thinking about potential ways to make the castle stylish enough to suit her, without Zepia having even answered it as a possibility yet. Charlotte apparently was already tired of this room, and had desired to leave. She was looking for the exit, and when she noticed it, she began to walk towards it immediately, but then looked back towards Zepia. "Oh right. One more thing. After we've prepared our place to stay, I propose we end the Holy Grail War as soon as possible. It should be trivially easy to defeat all of the opposing servants. They are ill-likely to stand even a small chance of defeating me, so we shouldn't have any issue. Perhaps I could announce a direct challenge to them all at once, and be done with it immediately?" Charlotte said this with utmost certainty. She truly believed she could defeat all of the other legendary heroes alone, and at a single time. Of course, this was impossible, and even the Grail System had provided her with enough knowledge to know that other heroes were not to be trifled with so easily. Normally heroes have a tough time with each other, much less in unfair situations, still... it didn't stop Charlotte from believing she could win singlehandedly. |

Charlotte reached her hand out to accept his. This wasn't exactly something Charlotte herself would normally do, but she understood it was very common in the current era, from the knowledge she was given by the Grail System. She returned his smile, thinking that this meant that they would get along as she had suggested. This filled Zepia with confidence, it was like getting approval from his Servant. "Well ... from what you've said, I now see why you seemed slightly off in seeing me show up. Hmph ... to think I would be summoned when you meant for him. Zepia was happy as she seemed to be in a good mood. While returning her smile, he watched out that it did not turn into a smirk like it often did. He nodded slightly when she finished. By that time Zepia knew who she was. The daughter of King Bismarck, he did read that the King had one but at that time it was an information he did not pay any attention to and it was just ignored. To think that there were two users of the same weapon... Zepia was ashamed because he did not figure it out the very first second she appeared. "I'm the daughter of that king. I inherited his halberd, and defeated the nations who fell him. You should be honored, and feel most lucky to have summoned me in his stead." She confirmed it. This also made Zepia feel statisfied as he summoned someone with the same properties of the hero he wanted, she was just stronger and that was something he could call success at that time. While there was more to know about her and her legend he wanted to move on and settle other topics so he did not ask anything (he could just read a book in a minute or two about her if he wanted). "Also, I would be grateful if you could acquire the hotel as soon as possible. Or perhaps you could simply purchase a castle? Allow me to decorate it, though." "Umm... yes sure i will deal with it tomorrow, but tonight you will have to do with this." he said with an uneasy look on his face, avoiding any eye contact. "And a castle is out of question, i do not posses the resources nor is there a thing such as that near our location." "I only have one bed, i guess you can have it and i'll spend the night here, you can call me if you need anything." Perhapse he shouldn't have been so... outspoken, but he said it now so it did't matter, rather than that he had to deal with another problem. Charlotte apparently was already tired of this room, and had desired to leave. She was looking for the exit, and when she noticed it, she began to walk towards it immediately, but then looked back towards Zepia "Oh right. One more thing. After we've prepared our place to stay, I propose we end the Holy Grail War as soon as possible. It should be trivially easy to defeat all of the opposing servants. They are ill-likely to stand even a small chance of defeating me, so we shouldn't have any issue. Perhaps I could announce a direct challenge to them all at once, and be done with it immediately?" He gave her a sarcastic smile, he was happy to have such energetic Servant, but on the other hand he feared that she could be a little bit... difficult to handel. "As you adviser i would suggest you not to do so." "I have no doubt about your superior skill, but the Noble Phatasm of our enemies as well as the advatage in numbers would be difficult to overcome" He tried to talk her calm, still it was not like he didn't hope that her abilities were truly as glorious as she described them. He also made his way to the door and while passing by her, he continued. "Just to let you know, i am a man who loves plans, long and complicated plans." He was already on half the stairs when he turned around and saw her still standing there. "Come on now Queen, i have to prepare the room where you'll be staying tonight, so that it's as confrontable as possible" The tone in his voice already bordered on teasing, but he felt like that was a sign that he likes her. And besides he made use of that request of hers. He called her "Queen" not "my Queen", he used it more as something of a nickname rather than a title, and he found it kind of cute. He made his way up, with a statisfied look on his face and a mind that was at ease. Edited by ArcherGilgamesh, Jul 1 2012, 06:11 AM.

Charlotte sighed to herself, already disappointed by the loss of the castle she had been designing in her mind. Though it would only be temporary, of course. After she won this war, she had ever intention to take as she desired for herself, and acquiring a castle would be one of the very first courses of action. Even worse, this man only owned a single bed in his home? The thought was startling. She didn't know it was possible to be so poorly furnished. Charlotte mostly didn't pay any real attention to Zepia's advice. Although she had labeled him a such, the truth was she didn't really have too much interest in advice usually. At least not for the moment. She actually wasn't worried about the magus who had summoned her at all. She was confident enough that it could've been anyone at all, and the results would be the same. Still, some magi would likely be unable to put up with her, and while she's easy to get along with for the most part, despite seeming somewhat unreasonable, she was also very quick to anger. "Hmph ... plans are unnecessary with me present. However, if any of your ideas interest me, than I may follow them to some degree. No promises, though." Charlotte walked up the stairs after Zepia. She had to be somewhat careful to not break things in the area with her halberd. She didn't particularly care about the objects, but she still didn't like pointless destruction. She was the one who desired to own everything in the world, and even these valueless objects this magus owned were included. "Zepia, I'll leave it to you to figure out how to lure the enemy servants to us. It seems like too much of a hassle for me to bother with. Plus, while I have knowledge of the current era, you probably know best how to make use of it." Charlotte gave a smile, though her expression seemed as though she were giving him a great honor. In truth, Charlotte hadn't wanted to bother with any of the tedious work, just as she said, but she did believe that it was a great honor for anyone to do something for her. |

"Well, feel yourself at home, even though that's probably not possible in your case" Zepia said as he opened the door the the bedroom. Just like the living room, it was big, yet empty. One large bad in which 3 or even 4 persons could fit in. A small table next to it and a closet in the corner. "Umm... i have no clothes to offer you, so you'll need to figure something out yourself." "I will be in the basement if you need anything" Zepia said that as he made his way to the door, after he picked up a book from the table. He was a little bit surprised how well they got along. He expected it to be much harder, but it seems she was ready for any kind of a compromise. "Tomorrow we will move to a hotel near my house and i will see about our future course of action." When he was already at the door he turned around. "You probably want to sleep but i have one more thing to ask you." "What are your limits in terms of morals and dirty play." Zepia asked casualy, as something you should ask you Servant. At first he thought best would be to keep silent and then use a command spell if she refuses to do something which was against her moral code, and while he still considers this as an option he decided to tell her that the possibility exsists, instead of lying to her. "Also do you need anything else, before i go downstaris?" He was leaning on the door frame while speaking. While it could not be seen in the semi-dark room, it was clear that he was tiered himself, he was not in a hurry. Normally he would check the bounded field around his house before going to bed, but this was not needed for the past seven days. It was because the field was replace by his Mystic Code. He would sense everything, that enters his house, he would see, feel and hear it... and most of all he would know where it's going to move next and what's it going to do. Now he's just waiting for a new order by his "Queen", but he was fine with it, as long as he's going to get the Grail he would be happy. Edited by ArcherGilgamesh, Jul 2 2012, 04:21 AM.

Just as Zepia has said just moments before. It really wasn't possible for Charlotte to feel at home. This was definitely one of the lowest class buildings she had ever entered. It wasn't going to kill her, at least she hoped not, but she was disappointed. Not only was it a bit low class, but even the architecture of the building bothered her. There was no noticeable beauty about it, it was simply made with the purpose of living inside. How completely boring. "Hmph .. I wouldn't want any clothes you might have anyway. I'm sure it would be as ugly as the architecture of your home." Charlotte could only imagine how terrible any potential clothing could've been. She walked over to the nearest window and glanced outside, just to look at the surroundings, and any other buildings she might see. The only thing she noticed is how dull the current era was. She supposed it was up to her to conquer them in the future, and enforce a new era of beauty onto the world. Once she ruled, it would become a new age of art. She smiled at the potential future she imagined. To her it was the only future she could live in, and be satisfied. Zepia questioned her about her morals, and how dirty she would be willing to fight. She hadn't really considered herself a dirty fighter, but at the same time she really didn't care what others thought of her, or what she had to do to win. It was a difficult question. She probably wouldn't take any hostage herself, but it didn't really matter if Zepia himself did. She was slightly above such things herself. "I have no particular limitations, but there are certain things I am above. I'd prefer to defeat my opponents directly, if at all possible. However, I plan on winning. I believe I can do so with my own methods, but I do not care if you are willing to fight dirty yourself. If you were to capture an enemy master for example, you could kill them, or hold them hostage for all I care. My only belief is that we should do our best not to destroy any buildings, art, or ... anything valuable. Killing anyone who would bother us is fine, though." Just as simple as that, she had pretty much announced that people had no value to her. Unless they were willing to go along with her wishes, anyway. "I don't need anything at all, I am fine. On the reverse side however, if you need are in trouble, you should alert me immediately. I can't have the one binding me to this world killed off just yet. I absolutely forbid you from dying, until I have a way to manifest permanently. The consequences for failing to meet my orders are quite grim." Charlotte turned completely around from the window, and glared at him, as though she meant it with utmost seriousness. However, at that point he would've already been dead, so it's not like she would really be able to punish him. She held up her halberd for a moment before it vanished entirely. "I would prefer to have my beauty rest now." Although she said that, it's probably unlikely that a spiritual being like herself would actually need rest to keep up her beauty. |
